Week 11 Media Prediction Thread: Minnesota at Iowa

I don't know who Doug Lesmerises is but he sounds smart.

I hope every damn reporter picks Iowa.

I hope all the chatter in their locker room is about who they'll be playing for the B1G championship and whether or not they'll make the playoff.

Remember when you posted a link to this same website that showed many of their fans saying we are too confident and are taking them too lightly? How is this any different?

Go Gophers!!

Wow! Their defense is better than Michigan or OSU and their offense is better than TCU! They really might contend for the title!

Well, they are undefeated and ranked #5...

CBS Sports "Experts" have the Gophers doing well against the spread. 5 out of 7 having the Gophers covering.

Jon Solomon is the only one having them win outright.

Do you think the Nebraska and Northwestern team shows up or the Michigan and OSU teams?

I struggle with this game being any different than the Wisconsin game, sans fumble.

College Football News:

Player Who Matters

Minnesota K.J. Maye has emerged as the go-to target and the type of leader for the passing game the team has needed. He caught 11 passes for 94 yards against Nebraska, came up with some big grabs against Michigan, and was fantastic against Ohio State with ten catches for a season-high 116 yards and a touchdown. He might not be a deep threat, but he’s able to come up with the midrange grabs. Against Iowa, he has to keep the chains moving.

What’s Going To Happen?

Iowa isn’t going to blow it now. The run defense will rise up, Leidner’s 250 yards through the air won’t be enough, and the Hawkeyes will slug their way to another unimpressive win to the masses, but will be just fine for the CFP committee.

Minnesota vs. Iowa Prediction
Final Score: Iowa 27, Minnesota 20, Line: Iowa -12.5, o/u: 45.5
Must See Rating:5: Spectre … 1: The 33 … 3

Win the toss, drive 75 yards in 12 plays for a TD, then punch them in the mouth with a three and out.

If Claeys sticks to his philosophy of taking the ball it won't matter if we win the toss or not since almost every other coach defers to the 2nd half these days it seems. But I like the sound of the 12 play 75 yard TD drive to start things off.

LOL...I don't feel great about this game, but I doubt we see anything near 41-0! Man, these guys are really riding the high of 9-0! Do they watch games besides those Iowa is playing in?

I haven't noticed lately, but Ferentz used to always take the ball first rather than defer as well.

per Greder:

GAME PREDICTION -- Iowa's recipe for success is tried and true: run the ball, stop the run and win the turnover battle. The Gophers have done none of those things consistently. While the Hawkeyes eye the Big Ten Championship game, the Gophers are scraping for bowl eligibility. There seems to be a wide gap here, but Minnesota will claw to keep Floyd of Rosedale. Hawkeyes, 21-14

Go Gophers!!

You just watch: the special rule interpretations/exceptions committee that the B1G afforded tOSU against MN will also apply to Iowa.

What better for the conference than to put one or two B1G teams in the playoffs.

per The Gazette predictions:

Marc Morehouse — Tornado warnings on Nov. 11? What's the next sign of the zombie apocalypse? Wrestling outside on Nov. 14? No, c'mon now, be serious. The zombies are coming. Iowa 41, Minnesota 20

Mike Hlas — Floyd of Rosedale is 80 years old. But he still enjoys mingling with the ladies at Hog Wallow Retirement Community. Iowa 27, Minnesota 17

Scott Dochterman — The real Floyd is buried on a farm near Mabel, Minn. The fake one is a bigger deal. Iowa 31, Minnesota 7

Scott Saville — Warn your kids about 10-0 Iowa. I feel like Bob Brooks picking the Hawkeyes to win every week. Iowa 24, Minnesota 17

Beth Malicki — C.J. Beathard's pregame routine starts with reading these Pick 'Ems. Iowa 27, Minnesota 20

Bob Brooks — The pig is coming home. Iowa certainly remembers last year at Minnesota, so that will take care of any focus issues. Iowa 35, Minnesota 7
