Week 1 Team of the Week: Georgetown -- The Hoyas log the first significant win of the 2010-11 season, beating Colonial Athletic Association favorite Old Dominion 62-59 on the road.

Week 1 Team of the Weak: Auburn -- Not the start new Tigers head coach Tony Barbee envisioned, a 70-69 home loss to Big South member North Carolina-Asheville.

Thanks for the report, Hodger. I appreciate it and it will get more meaningful as the season progresses.

Quick question: Do you think Wofford becomes a top 100 team before the end of the season? I'm not sure what their conference provides, but I think they play a good NC schedule. Just gauging how good a quality a win the game on Friday was.

I know RPI this soon is meaningless, but exactly how does Iowa lose to the SDSU Bunnies and end up with an RPI of 25 ahead of the Big 10 teams that won games?

Great report, will be very interesting after the NC schedule to look at this...

Wofford

Holy Man,

Wofford certainly is playing a nonconference schedule that will get it in the top 100 if it can dominate its league. In addition to the Gophers, Wofford plays at Clemson (tonight), at Xavier, at South Carolina and at VCU. The Terriers also are in the Charleston Classic later this week, where they'll likely play Georgetown in the semifinals & after that likely George Mason or NC State in their final game of the tourney. If they can win just a couple of those games, that would be helpful.

Because Purdue is tied for #1 in RPI we all know how great of a measure that RPI really is especially this early in the season.

All kidding aside when does RPI start giving us a good picture of the college basketball landscape?

Probably not until late December or shortly after the New Year. It's pretty much all about positioning until the conference seasons begin.
