The QB play in the Bigten is down this year. A lot of people on this board have called for Weber to be benched, I for one think this is stupid. A couple of things to consider:

1) Daryll Clark and Adam Weber ranked 1 & 2 last year in bigten passing. They are now 6 & 7. Is anyone in Penn St. calling for a replacement? No, I think the fans there have a little more levity. They realize that he lost all his skill position players and his O line isn't good. Clark looked like a heismann QB last year and this year has looked very mediocre. Weber is learning a brand new offense, behind arguably the worst Oline in the bigten, with the worst ground game in the bigten, and to top it off changed his throwing motion. Do you really think a true freshman is going to come in and blossom with the chaos that is our offense happening around him? If so, I point to exhibit A.

Noitce who didn't make the list? That's right, Mr. All World can't miss 5 Star recruit Terrell Pryor. Consider that he is surrounded on offense with 4 and 5 star talent....and he isn't flourishing? How about Tate Forcier? Brilliant at times, but mostly brutal...and again surrounded with more talent than us. Would Marquies Gray fare any better than Forcier or Pryor? I doubt it, I think he would do worse considering the state of our Oline.

Is Adam Weber having a bad year, yes. Should he be better, yes. Did all Bigten QB's have their worst games this past week? Pretty much and I think the weather had a lot to do with that. I applaud Brew for being very clear about the QB situation. Remember Vince young? He didn't play until his Junior year and when he got his chance he hit the ground running and was a leader. Learn how to throw first, learn the offense, and then learn how to lead. Marqueis Gray will get his moment but it ain't happening this year! So dammit, get behind Weber! He's our man this year:clap:

Well done. But you're missing one. Mr. Mythical Perfect QB.

So we're comparing him to other Mediocre QB's in the Big Ten? I thought that's what Masonites did, I figured we weren't thinking that small anymore. Let's start comparing to other teams in the NCAA like Alabama, Kansas, Oregon, Florida, etc.......

what he said.

weber doesn't have a lot of excuses when he has a first-team all-american WR like decker who can catch practically anything thrown within a few feet of him and a couple other young promising guys like stoudermire and green running routes.

The point is, nobody available is as good as you think Weber should be. The other Big Ten QB's are among the best in the country, wether you want to believe it or not, and they're not establishing themselves as being on another level than Weber. And most of them are surrounded by more talent.

Indeed, the Bigten is the league we play in afterall. My point is that great QB's are non existent in our league right now. Weber was pretty damn good last year, so obviously a lot of factors are contributing to his regression this year. The question remains is Marqueis going to give us a better chance to win right now? I say absolutely not. Is bringing him in too early possibly going to hurt his development? I say yes, and I think Terrell Pryor is the example. He was brought in before he could even throw with a decent motion. Now what? You can't just take him out for a year and work on this. Hence, the reason he should have not started until at least sometime this year maybe next.

My feeling with the whole Qb situation is that people are letting their frustration with Weber lead them to hope that we have a better option available just waiting to burst onto the field, and that's just false.

2,157 idiotic posts and counting.

One thing most dumb-a$$ footbsall fans don't realize is that a QB has to also MANAGE the game. When the OC calls a running play, the play doesn't just run on its own.

The QB has to look at the defensive set and adjust the blocking assignments based on what he sees. That is what he is calling out at the line of scrimmage--not just "Ready, set, hut".

Weber did a MASTERFUL job of adjusting the blocking assigments in the second half, per the requests of his OC at halftime.

I was there at halftime. I heard what Fisch asked him to do. He did it. Whaley's 28 yard run was off a Weber audible at the line.

If it wasn't for spellcheck, I doubt a lot of these detractors could get out a coherent sentence.

If you want, I'll post what "detractors" and "coherent" mean.
