per WDAY:

James Johannesson did everything possible in high school.

A state championship and a school rushing record is just some of the accolades for the Fargo South standout.

His next task is the toughest of his young life. Adjusting to becoming a player with the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Big 10.

WDAY 6 Sports Director Dom Izzo visited with Johannesson about the next challenge, which is fall camp.

but being worried about getting tagged by a 250 pound linebacker is not the ideal instinct quality of a running back, I'm guessing. Hopefully, it's fear of the unknown and it goes away after he experiences punishing one, running them over.

All the more reason to redshirt a guy like him.

I don't think he's scared it's a bit of an unknown, he's used to punishing LBs the same size or smaller, He'll adapt quickly.

+1 His reaction is normal. I would be worried about him if he didn't realize that things are quite different at this level. I am sure that most, if not all of the incoming freshman are going through the same kind of adjustment. Coach Kill has discussed this several times and clearly understands the transition these freshman are going through. This kid was just being honest and stated what most, if not all, are feeling.

I liked his observation that in high school he was the man in the weight room and that now he is surrounded by freakish athletes. When he said it, though, he didn't sound intimidated. I think this kid is going to be special.
