Michigan 9-5 (1-2 B1G) began the season 8-0 and then lost 5 of their next 6 before roaring back from 17 down in the fourth quarter and defeating Iowa in Ann Arbor. Coach Kim Barnes-Arico inserted Senior Kelsey Mitchell (no not THAT Kelsey Mitchell) into the starting lineup for the Iowa game. Mitchell, injured most of her Michigan career, received a lot of credit for the Wolverine comeback (15 points and 11 rebounds in 22 minutes).

Scouting Report in Kim Barnes-Arico’s words: “When people write up their scouting reports, the first thing they write is “attack Hallie Thome, she’s gonna to foul”, Barnes-Arico said. And we have to keep her and Kelsey [Mitchell] in the game to be successful.” The 6’5” Thome has 10 fouls in three B1G games.

Common Opponents: None

Michigan’s first three B1G games have been battles as was their last visit to Williams Arena. Last year, Minnesota prevailed in double OT 91-88 behind Zahui’s 27 points and 27 rebounds.

B1G wins: Iowa 82-75
B1G losses: Purdue 65-63, @ Indiana 77-69 OT

Injury Report: None that I'm aware off. For some reason, (I'm assuming technical) the Iowa/Michigan game did not stream.

One side note for those who remember Terra Stapleton, the 6'3" Proctorville, Ohio native, as a Pam Borton recruit. Stapleton de-committed after Stollings' arrival and signed with Michigan. Last season, she played sparingly in 15 games for the Wolverines. In November, Stapleton left Michigan and transferred to Marshall.

Gophers lose to Michigan 93-86..Michigan had a 35 point first quarter and the Gophers never could catchup. Banham scored 22 points, but once again 1-10 from the 3 line. Very inconsistent this year.
Michigan was very beatable, Stollings has yet to prove she can coach defense.

I don’t think I’ve seen a first quarter quite like that (35-20 Michigan). The Wolverines just ran themselves open and hardly missed. During the next three quarters, the Gophers mounted an almost comeback halted only by an inability to finish crucial, often fast break, layups. For instance, Starr and Wagner missed on the same fast break and Hedstrom added a couple of misses on her own, etc.

Shayne Mullaney had an excellent day driving the paint. And once Banham began driving against Sierra Thompson, Rachel helped bring the worry to the Wolverines. But, unlike the Vikings game next door, the Gophers never led. On the positive side, as we rode the Light Rail downtown, only the Viking fans spoke about dumping a certain purple player in the river.
