was trying to make this game tonight but now will not be able to. Anyone who is going can you please post a recap of how Allen and Tobi look? It would be nice to land one of these two although it seems both have the "I'm bigger than the University of Minnesota" attitude to them.

I attended the game despite the brutal weather. Beau Allen was an absolute beast and Wayzata had a very tough time running up the middle. Allen also had a couple sacks and a few athletic plays where he chased down the quarterback. The kid is a stud and we need him. I was less than impressed with Tobi. Tonka's starting left tackle left the game with an ankle sprain and Tobi still didn't dominate the backup. He's a good high school player, but he looks smallish for a D-I recruit and he definitely takes plays off.

I was very impressed with No. 5 on Wayzata. I think this is Tarpley, the linebacker/tight end and Stanford commit. He's physical and faster than I thought he would be. I wish Minnesota would have offered a long time ago. I am not sure who No. 1 is on Minnetonka, but he's a stud too. He plays corner and somebody at the game told me his dad played for the Gophers. Tonka blitzed a lot and put him on an island but his coverage was always solid.

Overall, it was a great game if you like physical, defensive football. They might play a third time this year as they are in the same section. The winner of their section will probably play Eden Prairie in the first round of state.

I believe #1 for Minnetonka is James Farrow. Only a junior if I'm thinking correctly here, so he's a class of 2011 guy. His dad is Lonnie Farrow, a former Gopher wide receiver.

Didn't see the game, but my brother told me about it. 3-0 in OT to Tonka, huh? What a wacky game. As a Wayzata guy, tough pill to swallow.

That is James Farrow. His dad, Lonnie, played WR (#82) for the Gophers from 1979-1982. He's only a junior, but it sounds like he's a cinch to play for the Badgers beginning in 2011.

EDIT: Sorry parkinglot, you posted while I was typing. Didn't mean to repeat info.

I know Bostad from the Badgers practically lives at Minnetonka High School. It makes me just sick thinking about it.

Hopefully Farrow will change his mind and follow his dad's path. Have the Gophers shown interest? Offered a scholly?

According to Rivals, he doesn't have any offers yet, including from the Badgers. Maybe someone with a Rivals premium subscription could give us more info on his recruitment.

Maybe they are making progress with Tarpley, he's now a soft verbal to Stanford.

Thanks for the report. You must have been watching a different Beau Allen. The real Beau Allen was just dropped to a 5.5 on Rivals and he can't be any good.

I actually heard that Beau heard he was dropped to a 5.5 and was determined to perform at a 5.6 level, if not better.

Is that because Wisconsin Cooled on him?:p

Nope, as far as anyone can tell, he is the number one recruit on their board.

I can guarantee that they don't give a #@#$%$ what his Rivals ranking is.

To be fair, the only reason they don't care is because Butt doesn't have the money to pay for a subscription.

You must have missed the game against Hopkins where Allen did absolutely nothing and looked merely average, if you are basing your views and opinions off of one showing.

I'm not new to the site, but I finally registered so I can post/reply. My main reason for doing this is to attempt to bring rational thought to a board that sorely needs it. I'm also a die-hard Gopher fan so this is painful to admit - I sneaky like GV. Sometimes he gets out of control but for the most part he's cool. He's the rare fan of the opposing team where you can have honest, meaningful discussion.

Back to Allen, I think Wisconsin is very wise to focus on him. That being said, what does Wisconsin think of their chances? I know the background, his parents went there, his uncle played for the Badgers. I also know we were first to offer and DT is a position of need. I also know Brew has a good relationship with Coach Nelson; they attend the same church and their wives are friends. If he went to the U, he'd probably be in the rotation from day one and start once Jewhan and Kirksey graduate. This is the type of recruiting battle that has axe implications.

I sneaky like GV.

I couldn't disagree with you more. She is scum. She has never downright lied, that I can recall, but she distorts the picture and misrepresents the facts so that they are always in favor of Becky. And when called out on it, she ignores and pretends like it never happened.

I'm not going to sit here and say that a lot of posters don't slant everything in favor of the Gophers. I don't like that any more, but at least it is forgiveable, since it is, you know, a Gophers site. To talk out of one side of your mouth about how this school is insignificant and meaningless, but then spend months out of your life posting daily to its fan website, defending Becky at the cost of truth and justice, takes a particularly special brand of loser.

She is a he.

It is called a different viewpoint. It is a viewpoint that does not come distorted with Gold and Maroon goggles on, so some may not like it. That is why sports is fun. Everyone always does not agree. Sports is entertainment. This site is extremely entertaining. It is not a difficult concept.

People talk out of their a## on this site and act like they are speaking the truth. I find that funny. I call some of them on it. You can believe what you want, I will believe what I want.

For example, I think the Badgers being 13-2 in the last 15 years against the Gophers is far more important then the fact that the Gophers may have dominated the Badgers from 1900-1910. That is my opinion. I have personally derived a lot of enjoyment and had a lot of fun attending a majority of those games.

You may have been at all the games from 1900-1910 and derived a lot of enjoyment from those games. Just a difference of opinion about what is more important, that is it.

It is just football, it is supposed to be fun. This site is not restricted to card carrying members of "Gopher Nation".

I can be a pain in the a** and I like taking some shots at the Gophers, so what? This site is entertaining and I often raise valid arguments which the kool aid drinkers don't like. Many people point that out.

I guarantee you the only reason it annoys people that I am here is 13-2 and 48 years of mediocre to horrible Gophers football.

Allen is a huge recruit for the Badgers. We need some young, talented defensive tackles. He is very talented and he has a ton of Wisconsin connections.

Does that guarantee he goes to Madison? Absolutlely not. But it can't hurt. I know my son would go to Madison in a heart beat to play football if he could, but there may be a talent issue.

She is a he.

See, was that so hard?

I have no problem with a different viewpoint. Things like "the Badgers are 13-2 in the last 15 years" are facts, and are indisputable. But you have a history of spinning things that aren't really there so that they favor the Badgers.

For example, you constantly cite Scout rankings, and you honestly can't sit here and tell me you value them more highly than Rivals. You would be one of the few people on planet earth, other than Scout employees, who do.

And for another thing, you know damn well that recruiting efforts in football don't show up on the field for a few years. But you claim the fact that Bielema has beat Brewster the last 3 years (playing mostly Mason's recruits, nonetheless) indicates that Bielema is a better recruiter. When, if you're being truthful with yourself, you know that's a question that cannot be answered until the great majority of players on the field are Brewster's.

What we've been seeing on the field these last 3 years from the Gophers, at least from a recruiting standpoint, is attributable mostly to Mason. You know that's true, but you just enjoy being disingenuous. Good, honest debate is welcome and encouraged. Let me know when you plan to start doing that.

I guarantee you the only reason it annoys people that I am here is 13-2 and 48 years of mediocre to horrible Gophers football.

Again, you are wrong. Were the Gophers "mediocre to horrible" when they won the Big Ten in 1967? And the success of the Badgers has nothing to do with my hatred for you. I am more-than-annoyed, because you are a d*uche, for all the reasons outlined above.

Whoa, I guess I opened up a can of worms. As Stephen Colbert would say, GV is "on notice."

Isn't hatred a little strong? Do you really hate me?

Ok, I should have said 41 years of horrible to mediocre football. You are correct.

You are also correct that you can't determine how good a recruiting class is until they see the field. It takes 3-4 years minimum, sometimes 5. If that is the case, how come everyone knows that Brewster is recrutiing better? It can't be from silly rankings done by some two bit recruiting service, can it?

Air Ball....air ball..... You totally missed that one. It was a joke about his Rivals number dropping due to Wisconsin cooling on him.
