I think there was already a thread on this one a week or two ago...
 


Assuming the Gophs are on the fringe of the top 25 - either at 24, 25, or just out of the top 25:

The TCU game is going to be very important. A win over another BCS conference school in the non-conference schedule could help the Gophs move up in the polls/national scene. A loss, and they could be on the outside looking in for the rest of the season, barring a big upset. I'm not saying TCU is a powerhouse, but they are a recognizable name, so a win over TCU counts a lot more than a win over "Directional State."

IF - and it's a big IF - the Gophs run the table in Non-Conf, they will still need to pull off an upset in the B1G if they want to move up in the ratings.
 



According to the first poll, if everything holds up we will be in the conference title game. It's weird to see people have those expectations for our team
 

These polls are ridiculous.
Minnesota will be picked by most preseason magazines as 4th in the west (behind Nebraska, Iowa, and Wisconsin).

We might be fringe top 25, but a poll that has us above those three is ridiculous.


Do gopher fans even think we will win the division next year?
 

Rosemountain, I would not be surprised to see the Gophers contend for the division next year. The pieces are in place. If the team gets QB play like they had during the 4 game winning streak I could see them easily winning 6 in the conference. Not a stretch at all in my opinion.

none of those teams are that great and and that much better then the gophers next year or even better at all then us

I agree with you, but if we get QB play like we did the last 3 games of the year we could easily wind up a 5-7 team. So it's kinda hard for me to make us the favorites.

We should easily beat 3 non-conference teams.
We should easily beat Purdue.

If our qb play is as bad as it has been since the wisconsin game those are really the only 4 locks.
Really hard to project next year. So projecting us as favorites is ridiculous IMO.

If we get the Phil Nelson from the 4 game streak no game is unwinnable. Will we get that?

Illinois should be a lock as long as they have that clown as their coach. Other than that, I get what you're saying...
