Epic fail. This UVa team is garbage and our D (especially from someone that can't handle his off-the-court life) is making them look like a bunch of Larry Bird's.

God this team was full of themselves entering this game. Guess what? You're no better than a last place ACC team with that attitude and effort on D.

If I were Tubby, I'd make them run sprints tomorrow at 5 AM untl they all puke.

Completely embarrassing on so many levels. Virginia hit a couple of shots and we completely lost our composure in every single sense. Very very very disturbing....
 

Agree...........better get the running shoes warmed up. Dont even bother taking the balls out.
 

ha, there's 30 games left in the season, there will be a few games like this. This is a young team.
 

I'm a big believer that you humble a team by making them run so much that they need IVs from so much vomiting.

Given tonight's attitude and effort, this team needs ALOT of humbling.
 





And we get owned on national television....back to reality. Without Nolen we are middle of the pack big ten. Man this sucks......

It's one thing to get outplayed. It's another to get outplayed BECAUSE of your own effort. This team needs to understand quickly that their sh!t doesn't stink.

Agree. Looked completely clueless out there after halftime. That was probably the worst display of defensive effort I have seen in more than five years. I doubt these guys are going to get off easy with coach Smith after this "effort"

I'm sorry, but it's ALSO ON TUBBY to get that defense fired up. I'd be screaming my lungs out every time they doubled down on the interior pass. I'd be heard in every corner of the entire arena, and loudly over the television broadcast. He didn't fired them up until THIRTY-SIX MINUTES of the game had gone by.

Besides, since Tubby has been the coach, they have ALWAYS let the other team shoot the 3. Games like NDSU where they almost lost 2 years ago, and tonight, against lesser teams Tubby always has them playing double-up interior D instead of guard the shooter D. I'm sorry, but that is poor coaching to let a shooting team SHOOT all over you. That loss was on the entire team, coaching staff most definitely included.
 

When you are ranked as high as we are, and they have been spanked by 30 twice and we lose at home to them, I am sorry but that is completely worthy of a complete meltdown. What a choke job! way to go Minnesota
 



It's so predictable that it's hard to be upset. Does anyone really think this program can be a B10 contender?

No I really do not think so. If i remember correctly, the same thing happened last season. I see it recurring once again unfortunately. OH well, at least I do not have to get extremely disappointed anymore. We can only hope they do not get big heads again like tonight.

Yeah, you're probably correct, although Tubby appeared none too pleased by the end. In any case, it was an epic fail on so many levels it's kind of hard to just pick out one or two.
 

Another repeat from me:

Knock it off. Almost all commentors here on GopherHole bragged about how good we were, how we will be 12-0 going into the Big Ten Season, how tough we will be come that Big Ten Season and let the team's success go to our heads. It isn't the team that doesn't know how to handle success, it is the fans. The guys read our braggart comments and believe us, hence we failed them. Yes, maybe this loss will hurt our National Rankings for the time being, but in the long run this loss helps Tubby Smith get them back on track. Let's relax, have a beer, and let Tubby do his job. Smack talk and bragging hurts more than it helps.

No...what that success earlier showed was our potential if we play with urgency and effort. What today showed was we can just as easily play like slouches and get beat by a team at home hoping with a remote chance to make the NIT unless our effort changes.
 

I can't wait until we beat Cornell by 20 and everyone is back on here about how great the team is, and has to read back through about how "the season is over, lets just quit". Seriously people, the only thing more pathetic than the Gophers effort tonight in the second half is the fan reaction. Wow.
