Was in Duluth for the weekend and watched the game in a local bar with some other season ticket holders.
It was just the four of us in a virtually empty place until just after halftime. Then a large group of hockey parents (in town for a tournament) showed up as well as a couple dozen locals. Just about filled the place up.
The Gophers were on about 4 tv's, and there were a lot of the typical negative comments.
To combat the naysayers, my buddies and I began cheering loudly every time something good happened, and it started to rub off on everyone else.
By the middle of the 4th quarter, the bar was quite boisterous. When we forced the big fumble with three minutes left, the place roared, and then got even louder on the clinching touchdown.
In the closing seconds, a group sittting behind us started the M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A cheer, and the whole place joined in. There were high-fives all around.
It was a great scene, and I was damn proud to be a Gopher fan.
