(I accidently put this in the basketball section!)

In his three years on varsity at Michigan (1938-1940), he lost only 4 games. But, 3 of those were to Minnesota! And although he led the nation in scoring in 1939 and 1940, I believe he never scored a touchdown on Minnesota.

In the 1940 game, Minnesota won 7-6 on Bruce Smith's 80 yard run and won the National Championship.

The Bruce Smith touchdown run

Thanks to a member of this board I was able to get a copy of Smith of Minnesota, the 1942 movie about our only Heisman trophy winner. Here is a clip of that famous 1940 run by Bruce Smith to beat Michigan:

Many people consider that to be the greatest play in Gopher football history.

He also said that in his three years they were held scoreless inside the opponents 10 six times. Four of them were against Minnesota in the 7-6 loss.

Book - Harmon's autobio -

I personally have not read his book but I heard that in the book he talks about each game he played but when he came to the Minnesota games he just gave the score and moved on with out writing anything.
