Like an oiled scoring machine in which all parts work - QB Minshew awesome (how come we never land anyone like him?). Reportedly Claeys pulls down $600k+, about what he made as DC at Minnesota.

They’re having a great year. Landing Minshew for his graduate year was a bit of a master stroke and Claeys has made another problem defense respectable despite being undersized and undertalented.

They had been pretty good the last couple years, hence their DC getting CO DC gig at Ohio State. Apple Cup should be a great game.

Yeah looks like Grinch took them from the 100s up to 29 on defense. I suppose Claeys should at least get credit for not letting the defense implode. Next year will be more his team and more enlightening. As much as I like Petersen at Washington have to love the Cinderella story at WSU. Is there a scenario for WSU to crash the party if they win out?

Yes.

Oklahoma loses big 12 title game.
Northwestern wins big ten.
Pitt wins AcC
Alabama wins SEC
USC beats Notre Dame.

Probably need 3-4+ of those things to happen.

Yes, I think WSU could easily make the final four. Bama, Clemson, Winner of Mich and Ohio St (assuming they beat Northwestern) and Washington St. They'd have 3 top 25 wins, and a win over Oregon who will be top 10 by then. But they have to win out and they could easily lose this week to the Huskies.

Some Guy is right, Oklahoma likely needs to lose again too.

Further illustrating why the current playoff is so frustrating. Personally I’d love to see WSU go up against one of the blue bloods. Alabama is the only team that looks truly impressive in all phases. Michigan of course has been growing by leaps and bounds on offense. Obviously WSU willhave to win first and likely in impressive fashion to even be considered. The committee will look for every argument to keep the CFP club exclusive.

I don’t see them getting in even if they win out.
1 SEC, B1G Champions (if tOSU / Michigan), Clemson, and ND
I will enjoy watching Leach rip apart the process and perceptions of leagues in his subsequent press conferences. He is very vocal about teams like we saw this weekend, having what amounts to a Bye week in Week 11.

I’d love to see a 12 team playoff with all 10 conference champs getting in.
2 at larges.

9-12 @ 5-8

Winners go play @1-4

Committee seeds the 12 and picks two at larges. Rule is an at large can’t be seeded higher than 5th unless it is unbeaten.

Makes every regular season game important.
Ensures no unbeaten team will ever be left out.
Only adds one game for most teams.

People will hate it because conference USA champ gets in.

I could see their D coordinator getting a B1G head coach job

Also would incentivize smaller regional conferences that IMo are better for fans

That offense was lights out in the first half. Very entertaining team, defense has come a long way.

Did anyone notice the crowd? Shockingly light given how good that team is, and the entertainment value.

This is the case almost everywhere

I’d even be happy with 6 or 8. Power 5 champs and the best of the rest. I’m not sure there’s any way to keep humans out of the choosing process unless there is massive realignment and/or G5 finally develops their own playoff which is unfortunate.

A lot of competition for the entertainment dollar in Pullman.

Washington State (10-1, 7-1 Pac-12, No. 8 CFP) raced out to a 55-14 lead at halftime and was not seriously threatened on the way to its seventh consecutive victory. The Cougars host archrival No. 17 Washington next Friday, with the Apple Cup winner taking the Pac-12 North title.

Good for Tracy.

ADs for sure looking for a guy who will publicly contradict them and lead to negative national news stories.

ADs who can communicate with other human beings don't create those situations, so there'd be 50 - 60 D1 ADs that might higher him, but I think it would be a mistake. He's a great D coordinator and if he gets along with leach is in a great place.
