While I for one haven't abandoned the season (1987 Twins), and prefer to draw program conclusions when the season is over, notwithstanding the realism that 6-12 (again) or 7-11 are sadly very much in B1G play, anyone know whether there was anything to the fall, 2012 rumor that Tubby was being approached by USC? Any other suitors? If Tubby is forced out here at MN, it will be interesting to follow his career path post Gophers. I personally have doubts that he would retire on a sour note.

Best case scenario if season does follow current trend line, is Tubby isn't fired but accepts a position elsewhere. Right now, Bruce Weber's demise (fired, I know) with the Illini looks a lot like the Gophers 2012-3.

Glad you brought this up. Shortly after those stories started I read in some column(I think it was Shooter), that Tubby's name came up because the USC AD Pat Hayden was quoted as saying they were looking to hire a black(may have said African American) coach. Can't believe there wasn't any backlash on that.

Ok, so nothing was every concrete as to that USC "rumor." Who knows what is happening behind the scenes among Tubby, his agent, other programs with planning openings. Tubby still does have marketable star power notwithstanding the disappointment(s) we are are experiencing. From everything I've ever read, Tubby is a gentleman and has many allies within the coaching community so if he did prefer to relocate, an opportunity would likely be available. It would all start I think with a confidential meeting initated by Teague. But as stated above, everything depends on the final Gopher chapters of 2013.
