Wally Ellenson Not Expected to Play Tonight? UPDATED: Pitino says no truth to rumor

The good news is that trouble sires 3 children....Travis is gone, Mo suspended, Wally not playing. We should be golden now!
 


Let's pray this gets patched up. Would NOT be good for Henry if Wally bolted.

Exactly, that's why I would be fine with cutting Wally loose and ending our pursuit of Henry. Players with parents like the Ellensons can be more trouble than they are worth.
 

Feel bad for the kids....seriously, this writing has been on the wall for a LOOONNNGGG time. Wally, Elwood and Henry are great kids. John needs to stay out of this stuff, but he has done this for years.
 

Couldn't go to the game.... Is Wally sitting on the bench even?
 





From what I'm seeing of Wally while I'm at the game, I was wondering why he seems so uninterested in the game, then I checked this gopher hole thread. Now it makes sense!
 


As far as Henry goes, he's probably a long shot unless Wally's role on the team were to increase dramatically. No inside info or anything, just usually the way things work. Devoe had some issues with Tubby (beyond rumored drug use) including playing time/role which obviously didn't help attempting to land his more highly touted brother.

Because just like in the AJ Barker situation , no one from the program can/will come out and say what the problem is. Making public a one-sided explanation from someone connected to the player isn't likely to result in anything positive
 


I have watched two situations where the older less talented kid is on the team and the parents try to run the show holding over the recruitment of the younger player. It doesn't work out. The best thing to do is to hold them accountable as you would if they don't have the older sibling. It is not a good sign that this is being played out in public on any level. Whoever leaked it is hurting the gophers.

If Wally's role on the team does not increase, it's because we have players better than he is. And if Henry can't see that, then the old man and the old lady can take an aeronautical intercourse at a rotating pastry.

Well I would imagine Wally is the one who leaked it to his dad...

But why is Doogie supposed to care what the result is for the Gophers?

I don't understand how some people think it's the role of the media to support the program. They sell stories and information. That's it. If the father of a player that is sitting is going to give you a noteworthy quote, you take it. That's a no-brainer.

But, but, but, who can trust Coach Pitino? He's a new kid on the block, and new kids are always suspicious. :banghead:
 

I don't understand what's going on here. I don't blame Doogie for reporting what was given to him. But why on earth is Wally's Daddy getting involved? Let's say an issue happened, I imagine that would be best kept in-house and what is to gain by telling Daddy and then having Daddy run to a reporter? I have to imagine the staff is pissed. Who wants that stuff in the press? What's to gain??

It's pretty typical behavior from the Ellenson family.

I have never seen the Ellenson kids play, but last week ran into a very good ref who has done many of their games over the past 4 years and is a basketball junkie. I asked him `how will Rice Lake be this year`. His response was really good. I said `wow, how is that possible with only 1 Ellenson kid left?` His reply was ` The fewer there are, the less headaches and the happier the rest of the player are`.
Enough said.
 

Hey guys - just a thought: don't be so angry. I saw good stuff from your guys tonight - particularly Eliason and Mathieu; you know you've got the real deal in both Hollins. College basketball is fun - remember? I know that's easy to say as a PL guy - insert D2 joke here - but I'd suggest you try to enjoy. Thanks for the game - I hope it gave you something...
