My wife was surprised that I wasn't totally upset with the game. I do believe the Gophers are in for a bad year and I need to brace for it. However, I don't think that it is a big upset for one of the better teams in the division below to beat one of the worst teams in the division above them. In my mind the game was a toss-up coming in.

Face reality ... this is going to take a while to build. I hope Kill can do it.

I wasn't upset with the game either, more shocked at how low things are at this point. Going into the year we knew that so much of the junior and senior classes have been lost to attrition and we would be relying on too many freshman and blowing redshirt opportunities, but taking USC to the final possession created false expectations and for me set Coach Kill up as the difference maker. It is really bad and we are going to feel it 5 years from now when there aren't any redshirt seniors that could have really helped the team.

As You can see by the "instant gratification world" we live in, Coach Kill nor any coach has the luxury of 5 years. You get 3 years max, so " run what you brung". Hell, many on this board want him on a Greyhound today.

Gophers are a IAA team at this point - slow, some overweight, out of position, making mistakes. The talent level isn't there - but maybe they'll rise up and upset somebody. Looks like a 2-10 season and next year won't be much better. Kill will need years to make them competitive.
