According to Darren Wolfson per Mike Ellis, Villa 7 will meet in Minneapolis that weekend, with over 80 AD's and over 90 men and women assistants.

Tremendous PR for the Twin Cities and a sidebar plus for the U.

Before Teague and Ellis were hired at the U, how many people had heard of Villa 7?

We never had any young assistants that were attending, so why would we have heard anything?

Does it make the event less important because our wonderful local media never reported on such an event?

Exactly, josh. In fact, it has become apparent to me that the more important the event is, the less the wonderful local media reports. The are too busy slamming negatives and pessimism at the U.

What happened to Villa 1-6?

Seriously - does anyone know why this deal is called "Villa 7?"

Actually Vince Taylor was a part of Villa. Believe Saul was, too.

If the Villa 7 met originally in Las Vegas, there must have been some heavy gambling going on after the meetings! Go Gophers!!

It's funny how the coaching search gave some people such negative feelings towards what's essentially a networking conference.

I hope they go over the proper protocol for handling signed national letters of intent. I still do not understand why our new AD chose to ignore two 18 year-olds, whose only crime was wanting to wear the maroon and gold.

But that's the point. It's a networking conference. Does anyone think this is the first networking conference in the history of college coaching? Anyone in the know (a coterie of cognoscenti of which I am not a member), knows who the best young coaching candidates are.

Its not just about knowing who they are, its about NETWORKING with them and developing a relationship with them.

You can't just say "Hey I know you are one of the best young coaching candidates, do you want a job?" There's more to a coaching search than that, at the head and assistant level.

Most industries have leadership conferences like Villa 7...it isn't unique to college bb. I have attended several as both an up and comer and now as an executive mentor in both the sales management and software industries. They can be fun, great chance to learn and meet/interview potential new team members.
