I can handle a year of temporary bleachers to keep the Vikes. Can't mess with TCF too much in just a year.

Ted Mondale providing stadium facts now: Goal is to have only one year at TCF Stadium. New stadium will be built on back end of Metrodome.

I can live with it (note I'm not a Vikes fan)

I can live with a year, that's about it! I am a vikings fan as well. Anything more than a year or any major cosmetic upgrades that are crappy and permanent, I will be a little upset. Happy they got a deal done though.

I think the heating system being installed in the field and likely the concourse areas, plus any concessions upgrades will be well worth it in the long run.

Where did you hear about heating in the concourse? I think it's humorous to watch the fools that don't dress warm enough stand in the bathroom under the heater.

I don't recall hearing it either, but it seems like a logical addition that the Vikes might want to make.

PA will be complaining because its a "college stadium".

I figure it will be a necessity. They can use the same radiant system the Twins use. The stadium could be retrofit quite easily. Without some sort of heating system in the bathrooms and concourses, the water pipes in the stadium will freeze.

From 10 years ago re: Illinois hosting the Bears. With inflation, hopefully it's more than $2 million (and goes directly back to the rev sports/facilities). Of course any parking revenue goes to the University and not athletics. How could anyone be against this for one year?

U of I sees extra bucks from Bears

The University of Illinois' athletic department anticipates an additional $2 million in revenue this year from its agreement to play host to the Chicago Bears at Memorial Stadium this season.

The Bears, forced to find a temporary home while Soldier Field is rebuilt, struck an agreement last fall to play at Memorial Stadium.

Under terms of that agreement, Illinois will receive about 10 percent of gate receipts from Bears games as well as 50 percent of revenue from parking and concessions, said Warren Hood, associate athletic director for the Fighting Illini.

Additionally, Illinois gets to sell and keep all revenue from sales of signs on its new scoreboard during Bears games. The Bears will sell and keep revenue from temporary signs in the stadium.
