per ESPN:

The Missouri Tigers on Thursday dismissed junior quarterback Maty Mauk from the football team for "violating team rules," new coach Barry Odom announced.

Odom said Thursday he met with Mauk in December and gave him a fresh start, but Missouri suspended Mauk again this week after a brief video was posted on social media. It shows a person believed to be Mauk appearing to snort a white, powder-like substance and an accompanying tweet mentioned Mauk by name, but there was no confirmation from Missouri that the video was of him.

"I met with Maty Mauk this morning and informed him of my decision to permanently dismiss him from the football program," Odom said in a statement. "When I met with Maty back in December, I wanted to give him an opportunity for a fresh start, but I also made it very clear what our expectations would be moving forward."

Go Gophers!!

I'm gonna cut the guy some slack. It's entirely possible that on that particular day, he simply got some bad news and wanted to kick them blues.

There goes Maty Mauk, a guy who would have had a shot to sit for a couple of years as a 3rd string back-up in the NFL making $400,000 to do it, instead will never be heard of again.

I have a feeling that Harbaugh will be contacting him soon.

One of his teammates released a statement that made it seem like this video was shot a long time ago and who ever released it had been holding it over his head for a while. If that is true and Mr. Mauk has rehabilitated himself I feel really bad for him. Losing out on a scholarship will not better his situation. It is sad that we treat drug addiction as a criminal problem in this country rather than the social problem it is.

Isn't that extortion?

Oh god, if that is true God help him.

Yes it would be, maybe he finally called their "bluff" and they released the video. Either way, from what I've read he has worked hard to rehab himself. Being kicked out of a football program can't help his situation.

So we are feeling bad for Mauk now? Silly.
