Four McGlynn, the leading scorer on Vermont's 2012 NCAA squad, reportedly has asked for his release from the program. Vermont has yet to issue the release. Penn State appears to be McGlynn's top choice.

The 2012 America East Rookie of the Year, the 6-2 guard averaged 12 ppg and was the leading scorer (18) in Vermont's First Four victory over Lamar in Dayton.

Or more likely, his parents are probably hippies from the 60s/70s.

The big questionn is

Does Penn State have four scholarships open? You know, for all of the McGlynns?

He is headed to Towson

Towson would be a strange transfer. They suck. Probably a worse program than Vermont, which is a pretty solid small-major program.

Towson should be a lot better once McGlynn is eligible. Pat Skerry came from Pitt (and before that, Providence) to coach them last year and they went with a senior, a couple of sophomores and the rest freshmen out on the court. They've got other transfers as well as a nice incoming freshman class. Towson could turn out being a big success story two to three years down the line.

1-31 does look ugly last year, though. Probably a deciding factor is location -- although in a different state, I think Towson is about 40-45 miles from McGlynn's hometown (vs. a couple hours+ by car to Penn State).

1-31 says it all. So does no winning seasons since 1995-96. They have sucked for a long time. I'll believe Towson is on the way up when I see it. It's easy to talk about a nice incoming class, especially when you're coming off a 1-31 season that followed a 4-26 season. That's like saying Ellen Degeneres is more attractive than Rosie O'Donnell. Not really moving the needle. Four definitely must have been homesick to pick Towson.

Not really moving the needle....hah. Now that was funny.

Let's revisit this topic when McGlynn is a senior... this team should be dramatically better in three years

PS- Flippin Towson has a new arena set to open next spring/summer..

Sounds fair to me.

Not real difficult to be dramatically better from 1-31 three years from now. If they're legitimately competing for a title in the watered-down CAA in 2-3 years, then I'll know the guy is a miracle worker. He's got his work cut out for him.

Towson up to 8-8.. newcomer Benimon averaging 17 & 12... team is 3-0 in conference.. winners of 4 in a row... has only played 3 home games so far this year... 8 more to go.

Are you becoming a believer? Nice job by Skerry so far!

ESPN/Brennan: Here Comes ... Towson?

I kinda' figured you'd show up to pat yourself on the back about this one!

Yes, I've noticed Towson's improvement, albeit in a really weak CAA. But you're right, 8 wins already is major improvement from a total of 1 last season.

Have you ever been wrong about anything on this forum?

Towson wins again today to finish the regular season at 13-5 in conference (tied for second place) and 18-13 overall. The 17.5 Win-Loss improvement from last season's 1-31 is the largest turnaround in D1 basketball history.

Nice job by Pat Skerry.

That name could be really confusing on the the golf course.
