More than any one man could imagine.... Oh wait that's Gopherhole, my bad.

Kill is a trend setter. Will be interesting to see who OSU and NU replace the games with.

How much did it cost them dpodoll?

All of this stuff about the money is getting on my nerves. How long have we heard fans piss and moan about how the athletic department doesn't give the football program any support? Then you hear all of bitching on this site about all of the ads that the university sells during the games to make some money. How many of the fans outraged by the NC decision have called for the university to leave the in game advertisement money on the table?

The AD stepped up and took a small financial hit because the coach believes its whats needed to help build a winning program. Isn't that the type of support from the administration that our fan base has been begging for?

Maybe Vandy will try to schedule a series with the Gophers now! Seriously, when was the date for UMN-UNC? I wonder if it coincides with these canceled games.

Seriously, this one takes the cake. An SEC team that was supposedly on the rise backs out of 2 B1G OOC games. I can see Ohio State, there is little upside to that one when you already play multiple top 10 SEC teams every year that can wipe the floor with OSU. But the series with Northwestern is in the spirit of academic brotherhood - two top private D1 universities in big public school conferences. This is why Northwestern scheduled series with Vandy, Duke, Boston College, Stanford and Cal (and maybe to a lesser extent Syracuse and Rice). Lost some respect for Franklin on this one if he is behind the decision - never mind, I lost respect with his good coaches have to have hot wives statement.

Don't forget, Navy cancelled their series with us in 2019 and 2020 also. What's this world coming to!?

No, it's not and it looks like the number of people who think that spending that kind of money to back out of the games IS the type of support we've been looking for is a small minority.

Nonsense. There are just as many people that have tuned this story out because it isn't that big of a deal. The only people still talking about it are you people with your panties in a bunch, that's why you think you're in the majority.

"You people", "panties"? Yeah, that's probably about the strongest argument you could muster huh? Why don't you E-mail Norwood T and ask him. Or triple your donations to the U to cover the downfall. An extra $30 could really help.

Vanderbilt cancels both Ohio St. AND Northwestern for 2013 games

tOSU has an open date listed on August 31, 2013 and Vandy is playing Ole Miss, so it appears that the new SEC arrangements caused this game to go away.

I have no problem with Vandy sending a letter.

It appears Vandy HAD to make these changes based on the new SEC set up and schedules. Were you guys aware that the 2013 SEC Conference schedule was announced TODAY? That is right, today. Here is an article from Vandy's football site.

http://www.vucommodores.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/101812aab.html

You really think they just learned about the schedule today? Turns out Vandy had previously signed a deal with UMass (brand new to FBS-an FBS win for FCS price!) before sending a letter to NU. So instead of telling NU upfront when they knew they were going to drop, they selfishly ensured they locked up the easiest available opponent, now leaving NU holding the bag.

I also don't buy the SEC scheduling excuse because I'm not reading about every other SEC team having to drop choice OOC matchups because of the conference schedule (if they are, I'll admit I'm wrong). It's just coincidence that it was Vandy's two toughest OOC matchups that conflicted with the schedule, and not their FCS game?

They are using it as a convenient excuse to downgrade their schedule.

Well that depends. Are they a complete joke of a football program? If they are, then Kill and company have found some brothers in arms.

I am sure they had an idea prior to today what the SEC schedule would be, but I was reading articles last week that many SEC schools were still uncertain of what opponents on what date in 2013.

I was surprised to learn that Vandy had 5 NC games scheduled for 2013, so somebody knew they were going to get dropped.

Maybe the Gophers can find a way to replace Nebraska with Nebraska Methodist College on Nov 17th.

@AdamHogeCBS: Pat Fitzgerald on Vandy backing out of gms: "It just shows where our program is heading in comparison to theirs."

Go Gophers!!
