Virginia Tech is in a bit of chaos right now.

Fired the DC, OL coach, and strength guy yesterday.

In addition, VT has least 14 players now in portal, including at least five starters.

Likely to see several opt outs from potential NFL guys (they have 5 going to Senior Bowl, unlikely any of those play in bowl game).

Will be an interesting bowl game.
 



So win or lose, people are going to be bagging on us. Dumb.
 

This sucks for the Gophers that they're not getting a legit opponent. Will be interesting to see if we get more opt outs on the Gophers side knowing how depleted VT will be.

Still a legit opponent. This kind of stuff is becoming pretty commonplace these days....

All you can do is go out and play the game against whatever team they send out to face you. Both teams will be dealing with transfers and opt outs.

In the end a win or loss vs. Virginia Tech in a bowl game wasn't going to move the needle in any significant way anyway. Still a reward for the players and a great chance to get some additional practice time for the younger players.

IDK, if they have a ton of kids in the portal and opting out and DC is gone this is not close to a full strength VT team compared to the Gophers.

They’re playing with house money and for the name on the front of the jersey and not the back. Those gym rats can be difficult to defeat, as they’ll give a 110% and leave it all on the field.

We’ll likely be a double digit 🐶 .

We almost certainly won't be at full strength as well. I agree that it sucks, you would love to see teams at their best so that nobody has any reason to doubt the quality of the win.

Just isn't how things work these days.

Unfortunately most of these games that aren't playoff games end up being glorified exhibitions now.

Yep....but it is a chance to watch more college football over the holidays and in early January.

Sounds like it’s not even a close comparison though based on sheer numbers of 2 deep players as well as multiple coaches being fired.

Totally agree, they are getting hit way harder then we are to this point and that doesn't seem likely to change before the game.

But we have no control over that so all we can do is play the game against whoever they have left. Unfortunate we won't get to see them at their best but it is what it is.

It is because people get annoyed by cliches but they rarely get offended by them. When you don't use them people find a way to nit-pick and get all bent out of shape.
