As I said in an early thread...the way the BCS will get taken down is by one or more states that don't have schools in a BCS conference that receive state money to file an antitrust suit.

I look for Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, ND, Maine, NH, Vt, Ct, NM and Nv to join in on the lawsuit after it is filed.

IMO...no way the BCS will hold up in court.
 

Funny that Utah now has a BCS team :)
 


How do half those states have standing to join the lawsuit? Do Maine, ND, Montana, NH even have FBS teams?

Why would Ct. join the suit? Their team and conference are the biggest benefactors of the current system.
 

The timing of the lawsuit is kind of interesting, just when Utah becomes a BCS school the state files a lawsuit which would probably hurt in the long run.
 


so if UT prevails, the BCS conferences can just say 'screw you' and go back to the old bowl format, still make tons of $$$ and still control the premier bowls and still play for a NC if there happens to be a playoff.....winnnnnning:p
 

With talk of paying players, the non-BCS schools have to fight now to stay relevant. The rich BCS schools are looking for a way to separate themselves from the other Div I schools and paying players may be the easiest way to do it. These schools need to act now, or they may forever be relegated to the second tier.
 

Every fight starts with a big-mouthed little guy lipping off.
 

If the BCS is blown up then the Big Ten and Pac 12 will contract independently with the Rose Bowl to send their champions to that game. End of story and there's nothing anyone can do about it...except offer the conferences even more money to do something else.

As it stands, the bowls make gobs of money and the conferences get a piece of that action. Money talks, you know what walks.

Sorry, not Ct...and even if a state doesn't have a D-1 program...they can claim that the current system would be prohibitive to them moving up because they would have no chance to be in a top bowl game because ranks and inclusion are based on parameters that are controlled by the NCAA and BCS.

The problem is that the system is not prohibitive of them moving up. There is a system, and while their lack of a conference hurts them both in human and computer polls...they have every possibility of getting into the biggest bowls.

TCU was 1 Alabama collapse away from playing Oregon in the BCS title game.
If they want a better shot, play a tougher schedule. If people won't schedule you, then you can sue for collusion...but good luck winning that one.

They have NO CASE.
