2019, Vs. No. 4 Penn State. The Gophers won 31-26


1999, at No. 2 Penn State. The Golden Gophers won 24-23


1986, at No. 2 Michigan. The Golden Gophers won 20-17


1981, at No. 6 Iowa. The Golden Gophers won 12-10 (Highlights at 9:35 in the video)

1977, Vs. No. 1 Michigan. The Golden Gophers won 16-0 (Highlights at 21:10 in the video)


1968, Vs. No. 6 Purdue. The Golden Gophers won 27-13
According to the Rivals site Gold and Black | Minnesota running back Jim Carter ran for three touchdowns and the Gophers had 300 yards on the ground. It was a cool 33 degrees and the Gophers built up a 27-0 lead going into halftime. Purdue would score just 13 in the second half.

As great as this thread is, it’s sad that 1) we haven’t played many top 10 teams that often and/or we simply don’t beat a top 10 team that often! We’re sad
