Although TCF Bank Stadium is less than five years old, technology has certainly changed.

I'm not attached to my phone, but the service at The Bank needs to be upgraded. Nebraska is putting in over 12 million.
I think that Norwood needs to make a goal of 200 million, straight up.

Besides, the old codger who sits behind me will go absolutely bonkers if he finds out that the U of M puts a dime into WiFi service. He has scolded me when I pull out my phone during halftime. I rarely use my phone at the game, but I do check a few things during the half. He told me one time that it drives him nuts. I told him I didn't ask. :p

My company had SAP come in with a Big Data bus. One of the exhibits was the 'Niners stadium. It was pretty cool. They showed how you will be able to have food runners, merchandise runners, report fights and unruly behavior, find out when people come and go, etc. Big time wifi capabilities are overdue and may be the thing that gets more kids in the end zone seats.

I wonder how much extra bandwidth it would take to give ~30,000 mobile devices enough bandwidth to check twitter, upload an occasional photo... Maybe 100 kbs x 10,000 devices (using at the same time) I think would be an. additional 1gbs. This might cost a business around $10,000 a month plus the infrastructure costs of the wireless access points. I don't think it would be that expensive, and with a vendor sponsor you might get this type of thing for free if you are willing to endure one or two banner or a Verizon Extra Point (just kidding about this part).

I try to check stats and other scores during HT, but can not get virtually any WiFi or 4G service in my seat. No one can in our area. It is a joke!
