Miscellaneous stuff I've been tracking since the calendar turned to 2000. One thing I find particularly interesting is only once since 2000 (Duke in 2001) has the regular-season #1 RPI team gone on to win the national championship. A second thing I noticed (code red alert: 2016 bracket tip follows) is that the team that finishes #6 in the RPI has a 50% chance of ending up in the Final Four.
And man it's been a long title drought for the Big Ten (2000), though the B1G certainly hasn't had trouble getting teams to the Final Four (14 appearances, 6 programs) or Championship Monday (6 title-game losses, 6 different programs). FWIW, I think 2016 will be more like 2014 (Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin) -- when the conference had multiple legitimate threats to cut down the nets -- than this season (only Wisconsin). At this point I'd put Indiana (if everyone stays), Maryland, and Michigan State in that class next season.
