Go Gophers!!

I would love to play LSU, Mizz, or Utah.

So according to these predictions the only thing for sure is that we will play a bowl, somewhere in the United States, against another college football team.
This should show any fans that there is still a lot of football to be played and a lot that can happen in this final stretch. Can't wait to see where the chips fall.

That one would be fun just because the uniforms look so similar.

And cuz I could mess with that annoying Strib guy that covers the Vikings, is an ASU fan, and thinks white people are all out to get black people. I think his name is Master something.

The bowl projections have been like that all year, really don't get the point of doing them because as you mention no one really has any clue who will end up in each game until much much closer to the end of the season. In most conference teams are only separated by a game or two so things can fluctuate a lot down the stretch.

I will offer my own Big Ten bowl projections here - first time I've updated them since the preseason. Not high on the Gophers at this point.

I have Michigan State beating Ohio State this weekend, and the Buckeyes ending up as the last team out of the "New Year's Six" games. I give Penn State a good chance of winning their next three games to get to seven wins and making them very attractive to the Gator Bowl, who always values the biggest names. I also think the winner of Michigan-Northwestern gets to six wins, and gives the Big Ten more eligible teams than bowl tie-ins.

Cotton Bowl: Michigan State vs. Auburn
Citrus Bowl: Ohio State vs. Georgia
Outback Bowl: Nebraska vs. LSU
Holiday Bowl: Wisconsin vs. USC
San Francisco Bowl: Iowa vs. UCLA
Gator Bowl: Penn State vs. Florida
Pinstripe Bowl: Maryland vs. Boston College
Quick Lane Bowl: Michigan vs. NC State
Heart of Dallas Bowl: Minnesota vs. Rice
At-large (Cactus Bowl?): Rutgers vs. Stanford

Heart of Dallas means losing out, doesn't it? These next 4 games will be difficult, but I would think the odds of winning one are greater than losing all four.

Losing out is a VERY real probability..

Even if we beat Iowa, then dropped the last three, I think falling to the Detroit/Dallas tier is a possibility. The Pinstripe Bowl would be the absolute ceiling in that scenario, IMO.

Hasn't the B1G pretty much said that Minnesota won't be sent back to Texas due to the "repeat destinations" part of the new bowl procedures? It still confuses the he!! out of me, but I thought I read that somewhere...

ESPN's Projections:

Chick-fil-A Peach/Cotton/VIZIO Fiesta: Michigan State
Chick-fil-A Peach/Cotton/VIZIO Fiesta: Ohio State
Citrus: Iowa
Outback: Wisconsin
National University Holiday: Nebraska
TaxSlayer/Franklin American Mortgage Music City: Maryland
San Francisco: Minnesota
New Era Pinstripe: Penn State
Quick Lane: Rutgers

Because random message boards will link them and then post 18 (and counting) discussion points on them.

*Texas Bowl* in Houston. Heart of Dallas bowl...big difference.

The Texas Bowl isn't in the Big Ten lineup anymore. There's no way the Big Ten sends us back to Texas in any form (even Dallas) if they can avoid it, which they should have no trouble with since they have the tiered system of selections and more say in who goes where this year. I think Detroit or another at-large bowl (if the conference has enough teams for it) is the most likely possibility if they lose out. One more win would almost certainly put us in New York, two would see us in Jacksonville/Nashville or better.
