A little birdie (sorry Charlie) says the Gophers will host Siena next year at The Barn. A nice get for the Gophers, certainly an improvement over anything we have (at home) this season, but in reality it's probably scheduled a year too late. The Saints will lose three key seniors from this year's squad, Alex Franklin, Ronald Moore (the guy who burned OSU in the NCAA, Bill Raftery's "double onions" guy) and NBA prospect Edwin Ubiles.

Hopefully the Seton Hall home-and-home series mentioned to Andy Katz by Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez comes to fruition as well. The Hall is unbeaten so far this season & should be pretty good next year. Those 2 games (if on the home schedule) along with a likely ACC Challenge home game certainly would be an upgrade for season-ticket holders.

Good news.

Sounds like next years home NC schedule could be better than this year.

Thank You Thank You Thank You to anyone responsible for that.

Hodger...no offense but what does that tell you when we're getting all gitty over Siena coming to the Barn as a NC foe? At least there should be an ACC team coming so that should definitely improve things.

I'm not getting giddy, but I certainly want to give Joe E/Tubby credit if it appears there's finally a concerted effort being made to improve the home slate. Baby steps are better than no steps, or going backwards. I've criticized the home schedule too much, I know, so I certainly want to acknowledge it if I see improvement.

But as always, I'll believe it when I see or hear it's official from one or both schools.

Why are you so hot for an upgrade in the schedule?? Do you enjoy seeing the Gophers lose?

Glad to hear about Siena coming here.

Coach McCaffery's wife is a former player at CDH and also one of my former St. Paul JCC players (I coached her in 7th grade).

Siena, Seton Hall and say Maryland at home to go along with the pre-season tourney and at least one road game should set-up a decent schedule. Maybe we give Kansas the first game in a home-and-home next year?

Why are you so hot for an upgrade in the schedule?
Because when I go to Williams Arena in November & December I would like to see 2 decent/BCS and/or "name" opponents. Not to mention, I don't think it's too much to ask that half the (overall) non-Big 10 games be scheduled with that the idea they are/will be competitive opponents, as opposed to 3-5 (25-42%). That still leaves plenty of room (the other half of the schedule) to schedule automatic W's.

Do you enjoy seeing the Gophers lose?
No, but on occasion the thought of going to Williams Arena in November & December with the hope of seeing a competitive game would please me, and yes, I'd be OK with one that (gasp!) perhaps the Gophers could lose. A sprinkle of intrigue would be a good thing.

There's a difference between the HOME and OVERALL schedule. Criticizing one does not mean I'm harping on the other. When the Gophers' schedule was released this summer, I thought the overall schedule looked improved (largely because 76 Classic > NABC "Classic) from 2008-09. The home schedule? Not so much.
