Update on Mitchell JR

Per Marcus:

Gophers coach Ben Johnson could possibly be out multiple starters and reserves for Wednesday’s home game against North Texas, including leading scorer Dawson Garcia.

Garcia is a game-time decision after being limited this week with a groin injury. And Johnson said Tuesday that senior guard Mike Mitchell Jr., is sidelined possibly for two weeks with a bad ankle sprain suffered in Saturday’s 68-64 win against Nebraska Omaha.

Junior big man Frank Mitchell is still a game-time decision Wednesday after sitting out the first two games with a shoulder injury. Sophomore forward Kadyn Betts (heel) and senior guard Caleb Williams (mono) are also out for the North Texas game.

“We’re a little banged up,” Johnson said. “We’ve got guys who will have extended minutes and have a chance to rise up and meet a standard and find out where they’re at.”

Go Gophers!!

Well, we are picked to finish last so there is nowhere to go but up. If I am one of the healthy guys, I take this as my chance to show coach what I can bring. I don't worry about making mistakes, but instead I work on executing the game plan and scoring more points than the other team. Gotta go out there with no doubts and no fears. Just attack from the start and don't let up until the game is over. This is a great opportunity. Let's see who sees it as such.

Picked last by the media but no analytic platform picked the gophers last

Time for an Asuma coming out party.

If Garcia misses any time the Gophers have very little chance of winning. He is their only source of offense.

Their only hope of keeping games competitive without him is to keep the game in the 40s like Wisconsin used to do.

Wow....interesting. This is why you want a DEEP BENCH! To bad for Betts as this could have been his opportunity, but instead he is also hurt.

Guessing see a lot of
G - Patterson
G - Asuma
G/F- Rigsby
F- Fox
C - Edmonds
Bench - Odukale, Reader, Meister, Sheridan

Edmonds if no Garcia and Mitchell going to need to stay out of foul trouble.

I am not sure of that. Certainly he is the one confident scorer, but others can score...if our offense has ball movement and off-ball movement. Garcia can stop ball movement, which makes it harder for others to score.

Can your sources change outcomes, or better yet, punch referees in the face when they make an anti gopher call?

Without Garcia it would put a premium on 3 point shooting which was really good in the two exhibition games and first regular season game but was very off in game 2.
