I have noticed that the U has had or is scheduled to have several unofficial visits this spring. This includes several that are outstate and as far away as Florida. I don’t recall this being the case last year. I have no data to back this up other than the large number of announcements of unofficial visits for this spring. My personally semi-biased take on this is that Kill and the program are starting to get noticed.

I also suspect with the expected limited number of 2013 scholarships available (approximately 12) that interested recruits maybe realize they may need to act sooner than in the past.

I am curious to know what other peoples take is on this.

Likely the staff was able to expand their recruiting for this year earlier, last spring there was alot more going on with less time to do it in.

Unofficials from outstate are good signs, typically that means a kid in at least somewhat interested, it's akin to a non athlete student going on a road trip for a week to check out a bunch of schools they may consider, I'd bet some of these recruits also hit up Iowa/Nebraska/Iowa st/NW/wisky, etc

I really want a big time DE and RB in this class, to me a home run threat at RB and a double digit sack type DE are the biggest needs this team has lacked in the past.

This. When they were visiting high schools and traveling around over the last 4-5 months they probably talked to a bunch of sophomores and juniors as well.

I don't think 3-9 gets you noticed. I do think the staff is working hard to recruit the right kids, and it's natural that they're making more progress this year than last.

DTs! I want DTs that can play in two years when both of our probably starters are gone.
Between growth and technique, it is the postion with the longest development time on the D, unless you are a helmet school and can pick 4 stars.

+1, especially on the DE.
