Hot local rumor is that USF has offered a pile of money to the UNLV coach to take over the Bulls. Story is now up on ESPN.

This would shock me as I don't think Rice has done jack squat to warrant a major move and pay raise but who knows. I'd love to see him leave and then maybe UNLV go out and find a big name guy. New practice facility should help things I would think.

Will Rashad Vaughn stick around? I think one other major recruit was rumored to have tweeted something about "back to the drawing board" or insinuating his recruitment could open again.

Local radio already speculating about Ben Howland or former UNLV great Reggie Theus, among others.

Well, Vaughn won't go to Iowa St. if he opens it back up. Those coaches burned bridges. Kansas or Kentucky would be my bet.

Hopefully Rashad would reconsider us. Definitely would love to see him in maroon and gold. Lots of things have to fall into place but maybe there is a chance

I don't think Rashad would consider the Gophers. He's already stated that he wants to get away from all the negativity around him in Minnesota. I mean, we didn't even make his final 5 teams, or whatever it was.

No way Vaughn would consider us. Would love it if he did. We didn't make his final list so he'd have to have limited options for us to be in the mix.

I'd still be happier with him going somewhere else, I never understood why he went to UNLV in the first place.

Wonder if Elijah Thomas would eliminate them from his top 10.

I prefer UNLV over a program like UK or UNC. I definitely don't like the Findlay prep connection and it seems sketchy but I like it when a player choses to make a name for themselves on a less proven program or a mid major like Mudiay choosing SMU then just follow the bandwagon and going to UNC or UK.

My main problem with it is I would like to see him play. Can't remember the last UNLV game I watched.

Way too much money and "influence" swirling around the UNLV program for this to happen. If he leaves for S. Florida, I would take that as a sure signal that the NCAA hammer has designated UNLV a nail.

Any chance that same money and influence has got a better coach than Dave Rice lined up to coach Rashad, Goodluck and the crew? That's the only way I'd disagree with your conclusion.

Not that related but it just came out the other day that the football team will likely face some bad repercussions, after their best season in a LOOOOOOONG time, because of APR failings. Can't recall exactly but no bowl game in the near future.

Ouch

Getting back to Rice, they should let him walk. He seems to be a terrible game coach, and the team continues to underachieve on his watch. Never seen a coach make such idiotic use of timeouts for example.

Looking forward to seeing how it plays out

UNLV is also had that Big Man commit to them that Tubby was after when he was here, wonder if he'd consider us and vice versa if rice left
