Interesting to note, UNLV is heading north for the next few weeks to escape the Vegas heat and continue training camp.

Starting today (I think?) they are practicing up in Ely, NV, about 4 hours north of Vegas. I've been driving through Ely every weekend for the last few months to and from a project of mine. Definitely a more pleasant climate than Vegas in mid-August.

It's an interesting trade-off; they escape the heat while at the same time practicing at an elevation of about 6400 feet, so they'll definitely be in good condition. Sounds like they return to Vegas the week of the Gopher game for a traditional "game week" of practice and preparation.

Ogee, do you have time to check them out if the practice is open?

Thought about that. I'll be driving through Ely tomorrow afternoon on the way back to Vegas. I considered checking it out, if I do, maybe I'll post a brief update.

I'll be honest, it's hard to value spending time watching UNLV practice football higher than getting home at a reasonable time! I'll do my best.

EDIT: Practices are open to the public, along with a scrimmage on August 22, which is a day I was planning on heading through town as well. For a scrimmage, I think I'll actually try to plan my driving so I can see a chunk of it. I've certainly done stranger things in my life, no doubt.
