per Greder:
By attending Gophers football practice Saturday, interim athletics director Beth Goetz wanted to quickly return attention to sports and move on from Friday's sudden resignation of her former boss Norwood Teague.
"The priority (Saturday) and every day is about our student-athletes, our coaches and our teams, so that's what our role is and always has been," she said. "That's where we want to keep the focus."
After Butler, Goetz came to Minnesota and soon established a relationship with Kill.
"We have mutual friends, so we have some initial connections sort of coming in," Goetz said. "I think we've really gotten to know each other quite a bit over the last couple of years. I'm excited to work with him a little bit more closely for the coming couple weeks, months -- whatever it might be."
While Goetz will take over atop the department, senior associate athletics director Dan O'Brien will remain responsible for football.
