my 7 yr old son asked me on saturday in the most innocent and non-judgmental way, "dad, why do the Gophers keep losing?" such a loaded question. dang near broke my heart!!
to top this off, my mother was going to send me & my wife to whatever bowl game the gophers were in this year. on her dime.

Similar situation

Brought my 11 year old cousin down to his first game (NW game) and on the way to the game he says, "the Gophers seem so small on defense"

Then I get the obvious one on the way home, "have the Gophers ever been good". Well, I guess so
