Who would you rather see tomorrow: UCLA or Portland? Didn't Portland beat Oregon this year?

I want a shot at the Pac 10. UCLA bring it on baby.

UCLA. Win would look way better on the resume, even though Portland might end up being a better team.

(Besides, I need UCLA -4 to complete a parlay, so GO BRUINS)

PAC 10 is way down this year...Portland might compete with Gonzaga in West Coast Conference

That is what I was thinking....a win vs. UCLA look better on the record, but Portland may very well win this game tonight.

One thing for sure, we won't get to play against Monson.

I would really like to see us play UCLA, it is a match up we don't get to see that often

Have we played them since we beat them to make the final four?

Bring on UCLA. Portland did beat Oregon, but Oregon isnt good (Montana beat them). A Pac-10 victory would help the Big 10 gain respect as well.

Agreed. So far, so good for the Gophers. One down and two more to go -- let's win this
tournament!!

Wow UCLA looks terrible. Looks like the Gophs will be playing Portland.

Well.... Portland is destroying UCLA so it looks as if we'll be playing them.

A UCLA win would carry more cache with the ESPN wonks come March, no matter how bad they end up. It might have the same effect to a lesser degree with the Selection Committee. Also, UCLA is very young and may end up contending in a terrible Pac 10 when it's all said and done. But it doesn't look like it's going to happen for us. The key is to win at the end of the day.

UCLA won't be contending anywhere. Neither of these teams is really impressing me. We will roll Portland by 20 on our way to WVU.

Tell you what, Portland could be quite a game tomorrow. We don't defend the 3 well, and they are bombing away...let's hope they cool off by tomorrow night...

Let's not get big heads. Portland is a good team. You don't roll UCLA by 29 late in the game if you're not, no matter how down UCLA is.

I will bet my house on us against Portland if the line is single digits...Guessing we will be favored by about 8-10.

I'm assuming Portland is not Portland State? I mentioned this in a different post, but it really amazes me how few fans showed up for UCLA. They couldn't drive an hour to see their team? I think Minnesota brought more fans.

Donovan already beat me to it, but I can provide a little background on Portland. They are a upper echelon WCC team, Gonzaga rules the conference with an iron fist.

I havent caught a game in person this year, but last year they relied on the 3 alot and can be dangerous if they get some confidence. They can be taken advantage of by athletic players and our bigs should cause trouble. I'm calling for a close game in the first half tomorrow but our depth should prevail in the end.

By the way I hate Portland with a passion, they tend to look down on us Portland State folks. I'm not looking forward to hearing about their upset of UCLA for the next decade.

I will likely be frustrated with our defensive strategy that requires every Portland post player to be double teamed (even if they are a walking stiff that is averaging 2.1 ppg) just so we can see the ball reversal to a wide open 3-pointer. Ugh. Can we use some common sense on whether to double-team or is Tubby just doing it as "practice" so the team is rehearsed at their defensive rotations come Big Ten games? The Butler game at least had some post players with some mobility and skills that made some of the doubling logical. It drove me crazy the first three games of the season, though.
