Note the U.S. Army National All-Combine Team for Offense - specifically O-line with Connor Mayes named 1st team and J.C. Hassenauer from East Ridge named Honorable Mention. Also, Justyn Oliphant a RB from Mesquite, TX was Honorable Mention. Nice to be in on these 3 early!

Not true. You can offer a newborn a scholarship.

I thought that was the case. I remember awhile back that an 8th or 9th grader, I believe, was offered a scholarship. It caused quite a stir.
 


Football:
Calendar runs 08-01-12 through 07-31-13. Reference the definitions if needed.
08-01-12 thru 11-24-12 Quiet Period *with the following exceptions (i)
(i) Sept., Oct., & Nov. (i)Evaluation Period **with the following exception (ii)
(ii) Only one evaluation per athlete for the college coach. The college coach only has 42 evaluation days during this period.
11-25-12 thru 02-02-13 Contact Period *with the following exceptions of 1-5 below
Six in-person off-campus contacts per prospective student-athlete shall be permitted during this time period with not more than one permitted in any one calendar week.
(1) 12-16-12 Quiet Period
(2) 12-17-12 thru 01-03-13 Dead Period *with the following exception (i)
(i) Contact Period. Coaches may have contact with a recruit who has been admitted for midyear enrollment, provided the recruit has signed a National Letter of Intent.
(3) 01-04-13 thru 01-06-13 Quiet Period. All JUCO recruits who intend to enroll midyear.
(4) 01-06-13 Quiet Period
(5) 01-07-13 thru 01-10-13 Dead Period *with the following exception (i)
(i) Contact Period. Coaches may have contact with a recruit who has been admitted for midyear enrollment, provided the recruit has signed a National Letter of Intent.

Recruiting Material *You can begin to receive recruiting material and information from the coach starting September 1st
Telephone Calls *You can call the coach at your own expense. **College coach can call you once between April 15 and May 31.

Official Visits *Not Permitted
Unofficial Visits *Unlimited

As a Senior in high school:
Recruiting Tactic As a Senior
Recruiting Material *You can receive material and information from the coach
Telephone Calls *You can call the coach at your own expense. **Coach can call once per week starting September 1st. ***During contact periods college coaches can call unlimited.
Off-Campus Contact *July 1st prior to senior year (limited to contact periods).
Official Visits *You can start official visits on the opening day of your classes. ** You get one per college and a maximum of 5 visits to D1 schools and unlimited to D2, D3 and NAIA.
Unofficial visits *Unlimited


Other important information:

College coaches have 42 evaluation days to recruit you during September, October, and November of your academic senior year.
College coaches have 168 evaluation days to recruit you during spring evaluation period.
During your senior year a college coach cannot evaluate you more than 3 times, once during the fall and the other two between April 15th and May 31st.
Limit of 6 off-campus contacts per athlete and only one per week.
Head football coaches can't recruit you between April 15th and May 31st.
During a contact period college coaches can make only one visit per week to your high school.
