It is only the first quarter and AF is leading Houston 14-0. Houston is a very good team and was ranked very high at one point in the season (I do not recall its actual ranking). However, it seems that AF is handing it to Houston. To me this shows two things: One it shows that AF is a very solid team (not that GHolers doubted that). 2: It shows that when we play solid football we can compete and beat very good teams.

It seems to me that the key with Brewster's teams is keeping the momentum going all season long. We seem to have let downs in November.

Anyway, I think giving Brewster an extension is the right thing to do. I do believe that if Fisch stays and we have some consistency in the coordinator positions, we could have a break out year next year. Or so I hope.
 

The more the year has gone on, the better our competition has looked. Of course this will never lead anyone to the proper conclusion of maybe we're a little better than given credit for.
 


I always proceed cautiously when making these sorts of conclusions because you can't put a whole lot of stock in them.

But if Air Force wins, we'll have beaten an Air Force team that beat a solid Houston team.

We beat a Purdue team that beat Ohio state and gave Oregon and Notre Dame a run for their money.

We beat a Northwestern team that beat Iowa.

I think this can be at least of some consolation. Maybe not something to be PROUD of, but at least to show that this team isn't as bad as the nimrods who comment on Star Tribune comments say it is. We have beaten teams that proved themselves capable of beating the best the Big 10 had to offer this year.

Of course, I'll be the first to admit that it would be much better to actually beat the best the Big 10 has to offer ourselves. I think patience is key. I get a kick out of the "win now" folks who somehow think that rebuilding a football program is like restocking an NFL roster. We can't throw money at this. Actually, I don't get a kick out of it, it makes me want to yell.

True...but we didn't beat Ohio State or Iowa.......

We're a good team and if we fixed the offense we'd be a great team...Wisconsin, Penn State & Iowa were very winnable games.......
