I was watching Sports Center this morning and they had a feature on the women's BB coach at U Conn. I noticed that they were using men during their practices. I was thinking about that and it made a lot of sense. The guys seemed to be fairly good players. I would guess that it would particularly help the women on defense to guard quicker, stronger players. Generally, though, the women were as tall or taller than the guys.

The U and most other women's programs do the same thing. I was on the U's practice team my senior year and it was a lot of fun. I also got some free basketball shoes and apparel for doing it.

Yes, the Gopher women definitely have a "men's" scout team they play against in practice.

Even the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA practice against a men's team at times.

Pretty standard for most higher end women's teams.
