Tyler Cooper out today

Tony Nelson joins a relatively small group of athletes from SW MN who have played B1G football.

back a few years, there was a lineman from Springfield - Tyler Marz - who wound up playing for Wisconsin. He bounced around the NFL for a few years on practice squads, but started a few games at OT for the Titans. (for reasons known only to the family, the last name was pronounced like "Merits.")

both were pretty athletic for big men - good basketball players. and Nelson was a thrower in track.

The list is greater than 2 🤣 don’t act like this is an impossibility. Other guys from SW MN have played big ten football and in the nfl. So I’m sure plenty have played big ten football

Javelin, Shot Put, and Discus? All three?

Darn. Offensive line cohesion is key today. I hope Nelson has been getting lots of reps.

Nearly every time the discussion here touches upon players from outstate MN, I think of the time earlier in Fleck’s tenure when he was making an effort to meet with HS coaches across the state.

There was someone on here arguing it was a waste of time to meet with any coach, or look to do any recruiting from smaller schools outstate.

Do you claim Blue Earth?

Jonah Pirsig was a three year starter at tackle and appears he was signed by Titans, before he was released, as has a listing on ESPN and Pro Football Focus.

He also is now the owner of a bar/grill in Blue Earth - good story below -
