He's working us a bit here. What they did was schedule a pile of teams that are a tad below us but will perform well at the mid-major level. I would prefer a few of those, a number of cupcakes and a couple of big names to achieve the same RPI with a lot more excitement for the Barn fans.

What does SMH mean in the Twitter vernacular? Thanks in advance.

Will repeat what I've said several times this year, both before and since the season started. ... the Gophers' nonconference schedule is fine this season, with the exception we should have a true road game every season before the B1G opener.

Luck of the (bad) draw that the Old Spice wasn't as strong as it usually is (but even so we got a couple solid opponents out of it), and a bad break that USC lost its best player before the season started.

The very fact the Gophers are ranked 18 tells you that RPI isn't a good measure until February. The SOS is a joke especially since all of our NC games were at home or neutral court.

..or maybe its the opposite. If our RPI and SOS numbers were actually completely off base.. lets say we are closer to a #70 RPI team and #100 SOS, we probably would have been waxed by one or both of IL and Mich. Sure, we blew chances at big wins.. but to hang tough in both games smells to me like a team much closer to top 25 RPI than 75 RPI. Who knows how it will play out.. just my thought. Folks will be happy to know that if we keep losing, we will not have a top 25 RPI.

Just based on my eye test, I'd put the Gophers around 70th...Probable NIT team.

Lets see if they can win in the Big Ten, if they lose tonight I doubt they can make it to the NIT. They aren't going to blow anybody out and from the looks of it are going to lose alot of close games.

How can you say that, unless you've seen 70 teams actually playing better basketball than the Gophers? I haven't watched that many teams play personally, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you haven't either. I have, though, watched plenty of teams in action, and honestly, many of these supposed top 25 teams aren't all that impressive themselves. The Gophers haven't been world beaters either, but I definitely can't count them out of the NCAA tournament based on what I've seen from other teams this year so far.

Or maybe not....

Has Joe tweeted yet that the Gophers' RPI is still a fantastic 40 after Wednesday's games?
