Why would you put FCS playoffs on network TV and bury D1 playoffs deep down the cable lineup on often-forgotten TNT?

Is it because the FCS contract is older than the new big school playoff?

My exact thought. I had to do a search to see what channel the CFP was on. TNT?

Where this thing is on TV is hugely important moving forward

The big ten should insist on taking a network tv bid and should go hard against espn

TNT isn’t ideal but at least it’s not exclusively owned by espn

Disney (ABC-ESPN) sold the rights to Warner Bros (HBO-TNT). Probably didn't want to go head to head with "The Shield":

TNT is good enough for the NCAA Basketball Championship Game, so it's good enough for CFP round 1.

I admit it's weird to have a network that doesn't broadcast regular season games covering playoff games, even though this is a ESPN crew. It was weird 15-20 years ago when Fox only broadcast the championship game and zero regular season games.

It's all a play to make sure Max has live sports after losing their NBA rights to Amazon.
