TV for Gopher EX & Non Conerence schedule

Respectfully, I only see five regular-season games (possibly 6) that won't be on live, regular TV. ... Wofford, Western Kentucky, North Dakota State, Saint Joseph's and South Dakota State. A sixth won't be aired if the Gophers lose to WKU in Puerto Rico.

I think 24 of 30 (80%) or more likely 25 of 30 (83.3%) being on live TV (BTN, CBS, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU) is a pretty good number. Sure, it'd be great if every single one was televised on one of those outlets, but in those rare instances going a little old school & tuning in to 'CCO radio isn't so bad.

There isn't room for the Gophers on BTN. Indiana might actually finish eigth of the Big Ten this year so all their games need to be shown.

As my title said, I was referring to EX and non conference games. By doing a simple math(not looking it up),subtract 18 Big Ten games and that leaves 6 of 12 or 50%...not so good.

Sorry about that 19, I missed the "EX" part. In terms of being televised, I can't bring myself to count games that don't really count. Just a personal preference, but I understand where you're coming from.

Indiana definitely is on the BTN a lot during the nonconference season (6 times), no argument here. That got me to thinking. How many regular-season nonconference games for each school (excluding tournaments & true road games for which BTN does not have the TV rights) will not be televised by either CBS, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or Fox Sports? Here's what I came up with.

Penn State (4): Lehigh, Saint Joseph's, Mount St. Mary's, Maine
Wisconsin (4): Prairie View A&M, North Dakota, South Dakota, Coppin State
Illinois (3): UC Irvine, Toledo, Oakland
Iowa (3): UL-Monroe, Idaho State, Louisiana Tech
Michigan (3): South Carolina-Upstate, Gardner-Webb, Oakland
Minnesota (3): Wofford, North Dakota State, South Dakota State
Ohio State (2): North Carolina A&T, Morehead State
Purdue (2): Oakland, Austin Peay
Indiana (1): Northwestern State
Michigan State (1): Bowling Green
Northwestern (TBD): web site yet to show which home games won't be televised; could be a max of 6.

If I had to pick a couple games that I'm surprised got relegated to BigTenNetwork.com, they'd be Oakland @ Illinois and Wofford @ the Gophers. Oakland and Wofford should be pretty good mid/low majors this season, especially Wofford. There's a chance those games could be interesting.

True Road Games (no TV currently listed on school's web sites)
Illinois @ Western Michigan
Iowa @ Drake
Minnesota @ Saint Joseph's
Northwestern @ Northern Illinois
Northwestern @ Texas-Pan American
Penn State @ Ole Miss
Penn State @ Virginia Tech

Thanks for doing the research that I was too lazy to look up.

I would also add(here again not willing to do the research) /guess that quite a few EX games are on BTN for other Big Ten teams.

What's strange is I'll be able to see more Duke games on TV than Gopher games living in Minnesota. That's been the case for most years if my memory is correct. 28 of Duke's 31 games I'll be able to watch on TV (expanded cable with sports tier on Comcast). Only their games against Colgate, Elon, and Boston College aren't on national TV (excluding watching games online).

While the BTN is an improvement, they do have multiple channels to play with. I'd like to see them utilize them during the basketball season at times.

Looks like when Dick Vitale retires he will able to live in MN.

Not a problem 19. It looks like the BTN isn't televising any of the exhibition games this year. Didn't they have a few on last year (I can't remember for sure)? All exhibition games for all 11 schools are currently listed on their web sites as BigTenNetwork.com. There are a couple that don't list anything.

I'm moderately surprised/annoyed that the Wofford, NDSU and SDSU games are not picked up by the BTN. Wofford because it's a good game and NDSU and SDSU are both in the region. It's a missed opportunity to make yourself relavent in Fargo/Sioux Falls, etc. and may come back to bite you with those cable companies.

Are you sure about this? The ACC has a syndicated regional package and I'd be shocked if Duke isn't on it several times. Or do you just get this on your cable?

28 of the 31 Duke games on one of the following networks:

CBS - 3 times
ESPN or ESPN2 - 17 times
ESPNU - 3 times
FSN(national) - 5 times - ACC Sunday games of the week. Will be shown in Minnesota if no Wild or T-Wolves game trumps it. However, my sports tier includes the 3 Fox College Sports channels and if that ever happens, it'll be on one of those 3.

Nobody can care less about Duke than I do. Who cares?

As far as Gopher coverage goes it's not great but not horrible. I will say it's still a reasonable ticket price and most of the NC schedule has seats available. No, I don't work for the ticket office but packing William arena (intentional reference to coach Haskins) will only make the challenge of beating us at home more daunting.

ESPN 3? How do I get that station? None of the Puerto Tip offs games are on TV???? I thought some of those games were on ESPN

Puerto Rico Shoot-Out TV

First game vs. WKU not televised.

Second game will be televised only if we're in the winner's bracket (ESPNU).

Third game will be televised no matter what (ESPN2 or ESPNU).

I'm making an assumption here - and if true, it is quite an irritation - that even if the BTN, ESPN, CBS et al do not televise a game, the television contracts prohibit a local channel from picking the non-broadcast game up and broadcast locally, ala pre-season NFL games. I'm assuming there'd be some local interest in that.
