Forgetting for a moment Tubby's current in season troubles, I feel for his situation on the recruiting front. Considering that he currently has signed Hollins and Elliason and that both are geared more to the long term we probably don't have any help on the way for next year locked up.

Now we get to the big IFs. With Nolen, Mbakwe and White all questionable, how does he recruit this spring? He's after a point guard in any event and the long shot there is obviously Joseph - so that's not so hard. However, what are the odds that one or both of Mbakwe and White are here next year?

We could have this team:
C- Sampson, Iverson, Elliason (RS)
PF -
SF- Carter, Williams
SG- Hoff , Hollins
PG- Joseph, Cobbs
+ filler recruits

Or this team:
C- Sampson, Iverson, Elliason (RS)
PF- Mbakwe, White
SF-Carter, Williams
SG- Hoff, Joseph, Hollins
PG-Nolen, Cobbs, C. Joseph

The difference between the two teams could be the difference between a Big Ten Champ and a
9th or 10th place finish.

A tough spot for Tubby.

Tubby usually plays 3 G offense with 1 F and 1 C or 2 F.

He did that at Kentucky in 1998 (NCAA champs) and 2003 (AP #1 rating).

Another way to look at it the possible available scholarships. We could have anything from 0 to 4 of White, Trev, Al, Corey. Do you want a year with 4 open scholarships or who do you find this late.

Next year; big upside-big downside.

These two team not only "could" be the difference between a championship and 9th or 10th place. They are the difference.
