Which member of Tubby's first recruiting class contributed the most to the U?

I'll try it, with a caveat.

Contributed the most (while being a positive representative for the U)? That's easy. ... Ralph.

Most significant contribution (but evidently a headache on & off the court)? Has to be Devoe in 2009-10 playing the lead role in helping the Gophers squeeze out a NCAA tourney bid with wins over Sparty & Purdue in Indianapolis.

If there is any point to analyzing that recruiting class, it revolves around the idea that a recruited group is best analyzed based upon their actual contributions. You can recruit all the studs you want but if they don't produce- it was a bad class. Likewise you can bring in a ho-hum group, and if they produce wins, it was a good class. Tubby's first class worked out poorly.

Tubby's first class worked out poorly.

Based on your defintion (as a group; 2008-09 through 2011-12), I'd disagree slightly and say Tubby's first class worked out about "average", not poorly. The end result was 2 NCAA bids in 4 years with no NCAA wins. We had a total of 1 NCAA bid in the previous 9 seasons.

Not great, not poor, somewhere in between.

Completely agree with this sentiment. I think that 2nd tourney appearance is significant in Tubby's tenure so far, and Devoe was the key cog of it.

Winasota, Sorry for any confusion... I'm agreeing with you. It's Ralph and it's not even close. I agree with Devoe's push in the Big Ten tournament, his performance was extraordinary... but it wasn't a one man show.

Thought you were saying my question of "dumbest question ever?" was not my best question ever. Minor confusion.

I thought your question of "dumbest question ever?" was actually an answer to a question "It has to be Ralph by default, dosen't it?" which was itself an answer to the question "Which member of Tubby's first recruiting class contributed the most to the U?" Some people question questions as answers to questions and construe them more as statements (hence Madtown's fix). As stated, Madman was not questioning your question as being not your best question; it was, however, in fact your first question (your second question being "Seriously?". Ok, are we all on the same page now?...whew!

Correct. Colt's play was equally significant. I won't be surprised if he has a huge senior year.
