Tubby Smith Visits Two Iowa Prospects

Head coach Tubby Smith visited junior point guard Marcus Paige of Linn-Mar and shooting guard Josh Oglesby of Cedar Rapids Washington Monday. Vince Taylor will visit Naadir Tharpe Wednesday. Oglesby and Tharpe will make their official visits to Minnesota this weekend.

Paige's recruitment has really taken off. In addition to the Kansas offer he received recently, Roy Williams was at Linn Mar on Monday with Tubby to watch Marcus. At this point, I would guess that Kansas is the favorite (he's headed there for Midnight Madness), but UNC would likely be a co-favorite if they decide to offer. Marcus is a really solid prospect and appears to be a really good kid as well. I hope he makes the right choice for himself and has a nice college career.

For those interested in seeing Paige and Linn Mar, they play against Madison Memorial at an event in Lacrosse in January. I cannot locate the article I read it in, but I think the date is January 15th.

There is talk that Linn-Mar will play Apple Valley in the Timberwolves Shootout. This game would feature point guard Marcus Paige and Tyus Jones, along with Thomas Schalk (William & Mary commit) for Apple Valley and Matt Bohannon (Northern Iowa verbal).

Chris, any idea what out-of-state teams may be coming this year? They are obviously talking to Linn Mar, any others you are aware of? I am pretty sure Madison Memorial will not be playing this year.
