per Amelia:

Smith said he often talks to former Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders (and someone fans perpetually like to put in the rumor conversation for a potential replacement for Smith) about coaching. “We always talk basketball,” Smith said. “He’s one of the best minds in the game. He always gives me little tidbits.”

Go Gophers!!

Tubby either trying to undermine the Flip to Gophers camp or ignoring his suggestions!

"What we have here, is a failure to communicate."

More than anyone else, I hope Flip is on staff next year in some capacity.

Is there a chance Flip could join Tubby's staff? Extremely unlikely, but what the hell, stranger things have happened.

I agree it's very unlikely but it would be a huge move for the AD. If Flip would be willing to be an asst. or associate head coach or something like that with the plan to take over when Tubby retires, it could help in many ways. It would be a coaching change plus could be a huge factor in getting some of the MN recruits. There wouldn't be a coaching change uncertainty and Flip represents a MN kid who played for the U.

I know it will probably never happen but would be so great if it ever did.

Watching Tubby's guards stand around and try to lob the ball into the Center, it looked like Tubby at least took Flip's Offensive suggestions..

Yeah that's something you do if you're a thirty something rising assistant or head coach at a small school.

This has a basis only in your own reality.

As cool as this would be, this is just straight up crazy talk. Flip becoming an assistant college basketball coach at this point in his career is simply absurd.

Flip is trying to buy the timberwolves. He won't be coaching the Gophers. Move on.

Breaking news: Coach A on Coach B: "He's one of the worst coaches in the game. Honestly I'm not sure how that moron ever got a job." Oh wait...that never happened.

Happens about as often as a 60 year old coach decides it's about time for his first college coaching job. And he'll definitely want that job to be at a bottom tier program in the toughest conference. Jeez people, use your head a little.

Please do. Stick to your blog, you offer little here, but wothless jackass jabs.

If you follow him on Twitter he'll also offer snarky political comments and great insight on how to promote laziness and bankrupt the country. Amazing how much this guy knows....
