Didn't read your usernames and thought the same person was replying to their own post... haha

The Conference that hasn't had a QB drafted in the First Round since 1995.

On the other hand, Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Russell Wilson have won 5 Super Bowls between them. Brian Hoyer is not bad, Chad Henne was starting at the beginning of the year (but his best days are likely in the rear-view mirror) and Kirk Cousins has had his moments since taking over the job at Washington. Maybe not the best collection of NFL QBs of the Power 5 conferences, but far from the worst.

Hard to believe that Drew Brees, who still holds many Big Ten passing records including all-time yardage, touchdowns, etc. was not drafted in the first round. (Yeah, I know he's not the tallest guy out there...)

On the other hand it was just a throwaway line but sure, out of the nearly 500 players drafted in the First Round since 1995 you found two guys that have had a great career, another guy who's won a Super Bowl and three guys who nobody will remember in 4-5 years. Still don't think that makes the Big Ten a pass first league but you're welcome to your opinion.

Winning Super Bowl quarterbacks have been drafted in the first round 55.3 percent of the time (29.8 percent with the first overall pick). Of the 45 quarterbacks taken in the traditional NFL draft, the average selection spot is 54.9.

Draft Position

• The lowest-drafted quarterback to win a Super Bowl was Buccaneers QB Brad Johnson (227th overall by Vikings in 1992, ninth round).

• Two Super Bowl winning quarterbacks were not drafted in the conventional NFL draft; 49ers QB Steve Young (XXIX) and Rams QB Kurt Warner (XXXIV).
• The Steelers have drafted quarterbacks that have combined to win eight of the 47 Super Bowls; Chiefs’ Len Dawson (1), Colts’ Johnny Unitas (1), Terry Bradshaw (4) and Ben Roethlisberger (2).

Playing Experience

• A rookie quarterback has never led a team to a Super Bowl win.

While this is technically true, it's a pretty useless stat because of the uniqueness of the situation. Young just happened to come out of college at the same time the USFL started and signed a huge contract prior to the 1984 NFL draft, making him ineligible to be selected. He would've certainly been one of the top picks if not the first pick overall. As it was, he was the first overall pick in the 1984 supplemental draft ahead of Mike Rozier and fellow Hall of Famers Gary Zimmerman and Reggie White.

I would be intrigued to know which power 5 conference produces the most QB busts in the NFL.

here we go again! a thread about RB's has devolved into a discussion about QB's and super bowls. I blame you Iceland

indeed, this is an interesting topic.
In general, I'm curious which conference's players tend to be the most overrated when it comes to NFL performance related to draft position?

This isn't what you asked, but a blog did go through an exercise of looking at 10-year history in the draft of each conference. The methods are poor (a 10-year span is huge in NFL terms, and simply being in the league is poor in determining "busts"), but here's the number of players left in the league in 2011 that were drafted in the previous 10 years, by conference.

SEC: 124/401 no longer in the league (31%)
ACC: 81/323 (25%)
Big XII: 93/291 (32%)
Pac 12: 93/305 (31%)
B1G: 110/339 (32%)
Big East: 31/98 (32%)
Mountain West: 37/108 (34%)

Generally pretty consistent across the conferences, but again, the methods to determine busts aren't that good. Would be interested to see if there's another study out there with performance relative to draft position.

I haven't read any of the posts....since I wanted a guess of my own. I'm going with the Sun Belt.
