Go Gophers!!

The Lakers could use a good tough rebounder. Hope he catches on.

As I watch his tape, I realize how much I miss seeing him rule the post.

per Sid:

Mbakwe with Lakers

Incidentally, there will be a local high school and college product playing with the Lakers summer league team.

Former Gophers forward Trevor Mbakwe, who averaged 10.6 points and 10 rebounds for Virtus Rome in Italy, will be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers summer league team.

Mbakwe, who went undrafted last year, told the Minnesota Daily the year in Europe was beneficial, saying: “For the most part it helped me moving forward. The style of play is a little bit different.”

Miss that dude.

There are more to the game than stats, but I don't see his 5pts & 5 rebounds at 20mpg per game landing him a roster spot.

Think he needs numbers more like the 11 & 10 he was putting up in Euro-ville.

I've watched 2 of his summer league games, and for the most part he's hasn't been doing anything bad. He's been playing good all-around defense. When he is on the bench Julius Randle comes in for him and I think Trevor is the better player for the team out of the two, even though Randle is averaging more points.

Dam He dunked on 2 ppl...

Good job Trevor.

He looks the part of an NBA player.
I could see him cracking a roster if the right ppl are keeping an eye on him.

per Sid:

• After playing last season in Rome, former Gophers forward Trevor Mbakwe will be playing this season with the Brose Baskets in Germany.

Didn't he have that deal in place before joining the summer league... he can get out of it if an NBA team picks him up. So this was not news.

Probably not going to happen, he NBA chances are slim to none if he doesn't get signed in the next year. Although with local guys like Alan Anderson making it back from euro league its possible, but rare.
