Wasn't there a curfew, and who was monitoring the team?

Texas Christian University quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested in San Antonio overnight after fighting at a bar and striking a bicycle patrol officer, San Antonio police said.

Boykin and some friends were at Pat O'Brien's ahead of Saturday's Alamo Bowl matchup against the Oregon Ducks when other patrons recognized him and "exchanged words," according to NBC affiliate WOAI in San Antonio.

Boykin reportedly became upset and started trying to punch them just before 2 a.m. After Boykin struck a bar employee, he and his friends were removed from the establishment, authorities said.

San Antonio bicycle patrol officers arrived shortly after and, along with bar bouncers, tried to break up the fight. Police said Boykin's friends restrained the quarterback and told officers they would take him back to their hotel.

According to police, Boykin then started trying to punch officers who arrived to assist. Several officers took Boykin to the ground, where the fight continued until they threatened to use a stun gun on him.

Boykin was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication.

The bicycle officer was treated at the scene for lacerations to his knees, which he suffered during the fight.

TCU officials released the following statement Thursday morning:

"We are aware of a situation last night and are gathering information. We will continue to closely monitor this and evaluate additional details as they become available."

As many a coach (and parent) has said:

Nothing good happens after midnight.
 

What a failure by that young man. Goes his whole career without incident until right before his final game. Sad to see.

Yes, my highly successful college career is about to come to a close, so I think I'll go out, get drunk, get in a fight, and try to punch the patrol officers a few nights before my final college game.

And Connor Cook, the winningest QB in the history of his school, gets blasted by "anonymous NFL sources" for not being named a captain, and for an uncomfortable/regrettable blow-by of Archie Griffin during the B1G MVP trophy presentation?

Just because boykin is an idiot, that doesn't mean your Cook isn't one.

Ah yes, the NFL. Where you can beat a child, chastise your team for not supporting you more after you beat a child, and still be named a captain of your team.

Staying out of jail is inherently difficult.

Although it looks like he'll fit in well in the NFL.
 






Boykin is not an NFL QB, and this was stupid. 2 A.M. a stupid time to be out, drinking another stupid thing, surrounding yourself with stupid people, and punching a cop is stupid. Doing stupid things, should be a violation of some team rule.
 

Also, it sounds like he was in his room at curfew check, then went back out.
 

It is a Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde story. Bad things happen after the stroke of midnight when you are out drinking.

Bar fights are most likely to happened after patrons' brains marinated for two hours or more. They do IDIOT well.

I don't know if Trevone Boykin can use the Intoxi-fluenza defense.
 

Wow. Probably unlikely he gets to play on Saturday?

And I'm sure this will affect his NFL stock a lot. Sad to see.
 


Herm Edwards went off at the Under Armor game practice. He addressed the team with Don't Be That Guy! He let his team down. He has his parent's name on his jersey, he let them down. And he has the University's name on that Jersey. He let them down. And I am not going to let you down, you will be playing for a University next year. Don't be that guy. I believe I had to address this with you, because once I return to Bristol I don't want to see your name on scrolling across the screen. Don't be that guy.
