Transfer List

Illinois has four...unless Groce is pushing some guys out, I just don't see how playing time would be an issue there with the ball dominant guards (Richardson & Paul) graduating and having very few bigs.

Looks like Taran Buie will be looking to play for his third college in his career. Don't want him anywhere near Williams Arena, just surprised to see his name again.

Josh Davis of Tulane might be a good fit here. 6-8 power forward who averaged a double-double (17.6 ppg, 10.7 rpg) at Tulane. Certainly would fill a need, and he'd be eligible right away acccording to Goodman.

Interesting to see Ryan Harrow and Trey Ziegler back on the list as well. Louisville, Ky native and former Gopher prospect Aaron Cosby is transferring too. He's a Pg who averaged 12.6 pts/gm and shoots pretty well.

Surprised to see Rodney Purvis leaving NC State, too. Wolfpack now losing Purvis, Brown, and Leslie.

Wonder if they are working Ellis....

Some that stood out to me that I have heard a lot about or I thought were pretty decent players when I watched them were Jaylon Bond (Texas), Aaron Cosby (Seton Hall), Amir Garrett (St. Johns), Ryan Harrow (Kentucky ot Georgia State), Jabarie Hinds (West Virginia), Sheldon McClellan (Texas), Rodney Purvis (NC State), and Trey Zeigler (Pittsburgh.
I would look more to the guys who are eligible to play right away for the Gophers and as SS pointed out Josh Davis really stood out to me when I was looking through stats, but really I would be interested in PGs and PFs that could play right away, but also wouldn't tie up a scholarship for too long either.
Also another interesting name that I've seen that could be considering transferring is Tarick Black and if he could play right away for us next season he would maybe be the perfect guy to fill some of the hole left by Trevor and Rodney.

It sounds like Cosby is deciding between Illinois and Mizzou?

Possibly...I thought I came across a tweet that Northwestern and Kansas State were in the mix for Ellis.

Not sure why Ellis would choose Northwestern over Minnesota. They have a new young coach as well. You'd think if the academics were enough to sway him he wouldn't have ever considered us in the first place.

Don't shoot the messenger...just relaying what schools/rumors came across when he apparently decided to re-open his recruitment. Other than locale, Northwestern doesn't really make sense to me as a fit either...

So can schools recruit these guys once they declare they're transferring?

Anyone know if Pitino has been down to see Ellis?

Wonder if they are working Ellis....

Can't imagine they are. Already have 5 players in the class and two wings rated higher than Ellis. I think Ellis is outstanding, but he doesn't fit into the Illinois class, IMO.

Illinois did have four on that list but Berindini is a walkon who can transfer to a small school and play. He went through senior night this year. The other three were not going to play much and chose to find somewhere they could. Illinois did add one of those fifth year players already. Jon Ekey from ISU is a 6-7 three point specialist. Groce may add at least one more fifth year player. Also transfer Cosby from Seton Hall is set to choose between Illinois and Missouri this month.

Groce's needs a couple of studs in the 2014 class. I would like Alexander and Lyle. Not asking for much. :)

Interesting name brought up is Josh Davis a PF transferring from Tulane. Minnesota is in big need of a PF, and he averaged 17.6 ppg, and 10.7 rebounds pg for Tulane in C-USA this year.

I wonder if Coach Pitino will land a transfer at PF this offseason considering our program is bare of big ten caliber PFs.

I really hope Charles Buggs proves himself a very capable starter, and gains some muscle by the start of the season! It's sounds like he's pretty talented.

Maybe I am mixing up names, but isn't Davis immediately eligible as well?

Buggs said recently he's 6-9, 200 lbs. I think he's perfect for Pitino's system but at SF. IMO Foster would be a better bet at PF.

I feel like we need to land a guy like the Senior Josh Davis to give us that complete starting lineup next year and ease the transition into college ball for a PF like Buggs or Foster.

Davis appears to be a good fit for about 330 other teams as well. I know an OSU board started a thread about Davis because the feeling is there isn't much talent in the frontcourt.
