Tori Oerhlein

Thanks for adding the separate thread for Tori. Am looking forward to seeing her play this winter.

Hopefully she is the start of an exciting 2026 recruiting class!
Yes! Is Sophie Hart stay which I believe is her intent the Gophers will be graduating 4 starters in 2026. Right now the class of 25 is only two girls and I feel like that could be all they are looking for. Maybe another PG. I’m thinking they would like the class of 26 to be around 4 players.

If I understand your post, Hart is a senior this year. Don’t believe she has another year, unless she somehow got a waiver from the NCAA. Did I miss that? Not sure what the basis would be for a waiver. Played 5 games as a sophomore, but was buried on the bench so transferred mid-year. Not sure how that supports a waiver for additional eligibility.

I believe I saw an interview where she talks about having another year. Maybe I am mistaken….. maybe the podcast the girls do.

Sophie has applied for a waiver, the circumstances of which are between her and the NCAA.
It would be a scandal in this day and age if she doesn’t get it. She was originally denied an extra year for being at NC State for just a few games. With functionally no restrictions on transfers, etc. she better get that additional year. Will NC State weigh in on this?

If she has a legitimate hardship reason other than getting beat out at NC State so her 5 games shouldn't count, then I'm all for the waiver. But if it's just she chose the wrong college, and shouldn't have gone back for her sophomore year, but only played 5 games so give her a break, then I am against the waiver. Don't think it's a scandal to not great an extra 5th year of eligibility in the absence of injury or hardship.

Also, if the 5 games at NC State don't count, then she should have been able to play immediately when she transferred. Why make her sit out, only to grant her a waiver on the back end?
