Who besides me is completely pumped - the college football season starts this week!

I'll second that, saturday morning gameday at 9, thats when it all starts...cant wait!!

Um, not to be an uber homer, here, but how is it possible Minnesota v. Wisconsin doesn't make the top 25 list? I'm not saying we need to be top ten, but to not include the longest-running trophy game in the nation in the top 25 makes it lose all credibility in my mind.

My bet is if we were in the SEC, we'd be on this list. And we'd be 0-12 every year. :)

Yeah I don't see how Minnesota isn't any where on the list. We play for more rivalry trophies than anyone in the country. Minnesota v. Wisconsin should be top 10 at least. The Paul Bunyan Axe is the coolest rivalry trophy in the country as well.

Actually the Little Brown Jug is the oldest trophy game, but you are correct that the Minnesota vs. wisconsin game is the longest running (trophy came later). Both of those are head and shoulders above Oregon vs. Oregon State. We would definitely not be 0-12 in the SEC, they have a better top end to the conference, but Miss State, Vandy, etc. aren't very good.

Yeah, I was including the Slab of Bacon in with the Wisconsin trophy game. For whatever reason, I thought that was older than the LBJ. And I was being hyperbolic for humorous purposes with regard to our record in the SEC. I bet if you asked a lot of SEC fans, they'd believe any Big Ten team would go 0-12 in the conference.

Agreed, though, that OR v. OSU has no business on that list at the expense of MN v. WI or MI.

Florida State vs. Miami has only been a big deal for 25 years. Should not be that high on the list.

Not a great list...

Too many games added because they play a lot, but with wildly lopsided records. So. Ca.-Clemson, sure the fight, but, that series is 65-37-4 Clemson. Oregon-Ore. St., GT-Georgia, Texas-A.M., all lopsided. You put LSU-Alabama, on the list a game which neither school puts any real emotion into, but leave off Alabama-Tennessee, which both schools share a deep hate of each other. Harvard-Yale is too funny to be on this list, considereing nobody but the almni and the Northeast cares about this game or has since 1920. Besides Penn is the real power in the Ivy League and has been for quite a while. Leaving off MN-CD (Wis) but adding Miami-FSU, which had a short run of prominece 80's and 90's, but hasn't mattered in the last little while or anytime before that. A very SEC heavy list and, if I may suggest, poorly researched.

I would even remove OU-Neb from the list. Since the creation of the Big 12, it isn't even a rivalry. Now, it's a 2 on/2 off series. I was once a Top 10. Now, it's non-existent.

Minnesota and Wisconsin is the oldest rivalry in FBS. Lafayette - Lehigh is the oldest rivalry in college football.

I also don't think Michigan - Notre Dame should be on the list. Michigan refused to play ND for about 35 years and I don't think the Wolverine fans would consider ND in it's top three rivalries (OSU, MSU and now PSU). From a Big 10 stand point, and even though ND has pretty much dominated these two, MSU and Purdue have a bigger rivalry with ND.

Only 11 of the 20 rivalries listed should be on that list. They are:

Pitt vs West Virginia
Cal vs Stanford
UCLA vs USC
Texas vs Texas A&M
Florida vs Florida State
Notre Dame vs USC
Auburn vs Alabama
Georgia vs Florida
Army vs Navy
Oklahoma vs Texas
Michigan vs Ohio State

I would complete the top 20 by adding:
Minnesota vs Wisconsin
Kansas vs Missouri
Kentucky vs Tennessee
Notre Dame vs Purdue
Minnesota vs Iowa
Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State
Notre Dame vs Boston College
Alabama vs Tennessee
